  • Wireless Radiation Safety Proofing & Making New Habits #1176

On today's show we talk with Dr. Debra Greene about how to safety proof your computer from wireless radiation. Then we talk with Dr. Mike McFarland about how to make new habits.
Wireless Radiation & How to Safety Proof Your Devices
We have been speaking with Dr. Debra Greene over the course of a few months about the negative effects of the 5G network, and today we talk about how to safety proof your devices from wireless radiation. Debra Greene, PhD, is a mind-body medicine specialist and frequently quoted expert in the fields of energy medicine and energy psychology. Wireless radiation comes from all of our devices, especially when they are operating off of a wifi network. Most of us use the wifi in our homes to work on our laptops or to browse on our cellphones and tablets. We do this without even a thought about the wireless radiation being emitted into the air and ultimately into our bodies.

Dr. Greene talks with us about exactly how this happens, and how it can impact you and the other members in your home. Then, she gives us some seriously practical and easy ways to lower the amount of radiation from your devices. These are simple things like turning your phone on airplane mode while you sleep, using an ethernet cord instead of wifi, and more.

Cody talks with us today about what happens physiologically when we lift weights, and how our muscles can plateau. Essentially, our muscles have memory. They adapt to movements and stressors, so when we lift weights we have to change up what we are doing. When you start to feel yourself hit that plateau, it's time to trick our muscles again. Other things affect how much muscle we can keep on our bodies as well, and having enough muscle is so important to be able to move and do things properly. Listen in to hear how exactly we should train, and also a little bit about recovery tips.

  • Addiction Q&A, Can Women and Men Really Be Just Friends? #1174

Today we do a Q&A with Dr. Jonathan Avery about addiction and the stigma surrounding it. Then we talk with Von Eaglin about whether or not men and women can really be, "just friends."
    Addiction Q&A
Jonathan Avery, MD, is a psychiatrist in New York, New York and is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell. He received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine and has been in practice between 6-10 years. He does a Q&A with us today to talk about the stigma of addiction. Whether your vice is alcohol, opioids, or sugar they all weigh the same when it comes to the word "addiction." In other words, no one addiction is greater than another. There is such a stigma around the word addiction and those who struggle with it. As if we didn't live in a cruel world already, add stigmatizing addiction on top of it.

Dr. Avery answers some of the most asked questions revolving around addiction, and we talk openly about the best resources for someone who might be struggling. You are NOT alone, and recovery IS possible.

Can Men & Women Really Be "Just Friends?"
Von Eaglin is a licensed professional counselor who focuses on couple relationships dialogue. Today we talk about whether or not men and women can have a strictly platonic relationship. This is so controversial because most of the time friendships between women and men are viewed differently from either end. Whether the male thinks the female is just a friend or vice-versa, but usually one person is on a different level. This has to be case-by-case because the popular vote was: YES - men and women CAN be just friends.

What is Futuristic February? For the entire month of February, collect your recyclable and non-perishable waste, and don't hold back! Act and waste like you normally would. On February 29th, gather all of your waste and take a picture. Then you can see what a month's worth of waste looks like in real time, and multiply that by 12 to visualize a whole year! It's amazing how much waste we all accumulate. This challenge will make you think twice about every item you buy and use, and you'll want to start to decrease immediately. Gut Health and Probiotics
We have come to learn that the health of our gut affects almost every other bodily function. There is a gut-brain axis, which is a direct linkage of the foods we eat and the health of our brain. In the last few years, the importance of taking a probiotic or eating fermented foods regularly has become a trendy topic. With the market becoming saturated with different products, it is difficult to navigate through them all. Jared Ramirez is the CEO of Enviromedica, which carries premium products to support the body's ancestral biology.

Jared talks with us today about how you should be incorporating probiotics into your diet daily, and what the benefits are. If you struggle with any GI issues, probiotics should ease your symptoms. You can also eat fermented foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, and yogurt. But if you know you aren't consuming these regularly, it's much easier to take a daily supplement. Enviromedica has a top-of-the-line probiotic, Terraflora. Terraflora is a broad spectrum synbiotic formulated with a combination of spore form probiotics, and advanced, food-based, ancient prebiotics. Our gut health is so important to overall wellness, and this probiotic is one you can trust.

Build Processes to Build a Better Life
Shellie Gardner joins us today to talk about how some small processes are important to building an overall "better" life. This applies to both family and home life, and in business. As far as at home - you can teach your children how to properly do laundry (and put it away). Or, teach them how to cook a healthy meal, go grocery shopping, manage their money, etc. And in business, it is things like creating a detailed SOP (standard operating procedure) in case someone leaves the company who operates an important role. There always needs to be guidelines and rules that are easily passed down to someone else, that way business goes on as usual.

    * Shellie Gardner has her master's in Electrical Engineering and is the owner Christmas Light Source.
