There are so many factors that influence the efficacy of intermittent fasting, and for some people and their lifestyles it simply shouldn't be done.

One of the big myths is between men and women. We are very different, physiologically. Women have a menstrual cycle, and this really interferes with the way out bodies work. Artificial Food Dyes with Faye Elahi
Faye Elahi is a non-celiac, gluten sensitive nutritionist with 22 years of experience in special needs nutrition. She is the author of the locally popular gluten-free nutrition book, Ready, Set, Eat!Today we talk with Faye about the negative effects of artificial food dyes and colorings. Artificial dyes may cause serious side effects, such as hyperactivity in children, as well as cancer and allergies. And the amount of products on the shelves containing artificial colorings has skyrocketed in the last 50 years. They are in EVERYTHING. But why?

Faye tells us some of the possible motives behind adding in artificial colorings and dyes. Most of the time it is for the overall appeal. If adding dyes can make a consumer more attracted to something, then the more chance they will buy. At the end of the day, artificial food dyes are full of disrupting chemicals, and our children are the most at risk. Listen in to hear what Faye has to say about this.

  • Quarterly Check-In, Negations & Affirmations #1190

Today we talk with V Capaldi about the process of a quarterly check-in with yourself. Then, we continue with Mo Brossette on the topic of negations and affirmations.
    Quarterly Check-In With V Capaldi
V Capaldi is the PaleoBOSS Lady. She has a masters degree in psychology and is a sought-after speaker. V considers herself a miracle since self-healing from multiple sclerosis in 2012 using food and movement as medicine. Today we talk with her about what she calls a "quarterly check-in." This is something that V does with herself to keep tabs on her progress toward goals, achievements, and even track her setbacks. A lot of times after the New Year around March or so, our original resolutions may have fizzled. This occurs because, to put it simply, life happens. So, V says that doing this quarterly check-in keeps her on top of herself.

In doing this check-in, V talks about the importance of starting out by celebrating your successes and giving yourself a pat-on-the-back. Then she says to look closely at the goals you may have strayed from and figure out how to get back on track. Also, each quarter you may find yourself with new goals and desires, so this is a good time to make plans on how to reach them. Listen in to hear all about this with one of our favorite people, V Capaldi.
Negations and Affirmations with Mo Brossette
Mo Brossette is an expert on human behavior, mindset, movement, and nutrition. He has been in the health and fitness industry for over 24 years, and is currently the Director of Mindset and Nutrition at The Adaptive Training Foundation. Today we continue our talk with him about self-talk, and we focus specifically on negations and affirmations.

This topic goes right along with what V talks about, because it is all centered around keeping yourself in check. By allowing yourself to engage in positive and affirming self-talk, you are more likely to reach those higher reaching goals. Negations are negative self-talk, which Mo tells us most of the time come from a place of fear. Listen in to hear what Mo says about this and how you can work on your own self-talk.

Today we start the show with Maura Davies from the SPCA who talks about how to do spring cleaning for your pets. Then, Wild Foods CEO, Colin Stuckert, talks with us about how to heal our broken food system. And lastly, we have Molly Tranchin, AKA the Fashion Veggie, who tells us about her journey living a plant-based lifestyle and she tells us what sustainable fashion is.
    Spring Cleaning for your Pets
Maura Davies is the VP of Communications for the SPCA of Texas. She joins us regularly to talk about anything animal related, and today we are talking about spring cleaning for your pets. We covered this a little bit a few weeks ago, and today we finish it up. Spring cleaning for your pets is probably something that most pet owners don't do. It includes things like getting rid of old dog toys, dog beds, deep cleaning their bowls and crates, and also checking expiration dates on all medications and products. Listen in to hear what is on Maura's list.
How to Heal our Broken Food System
Colin Stuckert is the Founder and CEO of Wild Foods Co. They are a company that was founded out of an obsession with finding the best ingredients in the world to support health and longevity. And we promise, their products are nothing short of that. Today he talks with us about how we can do our part to heal our broken food system. The term "broken food system" really breaks down to our food quality, our food choices, and us as consumers doing our due diligence to know what is the best for our bodies.

The paradigm of what qualifies for a "healthy" or "balanced" diet seems to fluctuate every decade or so. But right now, we are a country full of sick people. Colin talks about how some of the products by Wild Foods can start to change you from the inside out. Shop now and use the code OLR for 10% off your purchase!
Sustainable Fashion, Plant-Based Lifestyle, Parenting & More with Molly T.
Molly Tranchin is a full time vegan blogger, also known as the Fashion Veggie. Her two major obsessions in life are animals and fashion and her motto is, "you shouldn't have to hurt one in order to have the other!" We are so excited to have her join us today to talk about a few different things. First she talks with us about what the turning point was for her when she chose to go full-blown vegan. Then we transition into motherhood and parenting and she tells us what it looks like to raise kids that eat a plant-based diet.

Then we talk about a thing called sustainable fashion. This is why Molly first created the blog, Fashion Veggie. She wanted to be able to show all of the things she found; clothes, shoes, beauty products, etc., that were completely vegan/eco-friendly. The clothing and personal care industry are some of the biggest culprits for using animal products and contributing to the animal cruelty in the world. So, Molly is here to tell us where to start when deciding to go through your own personal items and cut down on the amount of animals being used for our own personal gain. Kip Watson is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a certified trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance. She joins us today to talk about the psychology of an eating disorder. There are more people suffering with an eating disorder than you probably think. So many things contribute to the first thoughts and actions that lead to an eating disorder.

Kip talks with us today about her own struggle with an eating disorder as well. We live in a world where our outer beauty and what others think about the way we look is compromising the quality of our health. This is mainly due to the extremely high standards set by celebrities and by social media. This, on top of our poor food quality, our mental health and our physical health are severely at risk. We talk openly today about how to heal your body and mind, fall back in love with your body, and be OK with being 100% you!
