  • Artificial Intelligence, The Key to Losing Weight #1032

    To think about a robot coming into the workplace may make you think of the movie I, Robot where the robots then in turn want to destroy the humans. The thing with artificial intelligence that is a little bit intimidating is that it can learn, reason and self-correct. This makes the threat of job losses in the work-place due to the use of AI machines. However, there are some really great things that AI can do for us in the workplace as well. Rosalie Robinson is a Human Resources expert, so she dives into this with us today. We talk with her about how AI can be beneficial and how it could be potentially harmful as well.

    When a person's main goal is to lose weight sometimes the scale can become the main driving force. Bringing that number down with no regard to how you're doing it can be dangerous to your health and bring you only short-term results. Tina Bernet Allen is an extremely successful personal trainer. She has worked with clients of all types to get their bodies in great shape. Today she talks about how exercise is not the main thing that will help in losing weight. She also covers the bad advice of calories in - calories out. This has been proven to not be a good system for everyone. The issue with calories in - calories out is that you potentially could be losing muscle mass in that process, which long-term can be detrimental to your physical health. Tina talks about how important nutrition is when working out and how to feed your body well. She also talks about certain exercise platforms that aren't so great.

  • Dangers of the 5G Network, Parental Paranoia and Anxiety #1031

    We started with 1G which brought us voice only, 2G brought us text, then 3G brought us data and video calling, 4G is the current generation which brought us HD video and gaming services. The newest generation is 5G, and the 5G network will increase speed and do a whole lot of other cool new things. But do we really need faster? Is what we have ever going to be sufficient or will we always come out with something newer? Well duh, the answer is yes. However, people are not looking at the long-term effects of this radio frequency radiation? Dr. Gabriel Cousens joins us today and he has been studying this topic exactly. Here he lies out in a blog some of the potential health concerns associated with the 5G network:

    * DNA single and double-strand breaks (which leads to cancer)
    * Oxidative damage (which leads to tissue deterioration and premature ageing)
    * Disruption of cell metabolism
    * Increased blood-brain barrier permeability
    * Melatonin reduction (leading to insomnia and increasing cancer risks)
    * Disruption of brain glucose metabolism
    * Generation of stress proteins (leading to myriad diseases)

    Dr. Cousens spoke about this same topic a few episodes back, you can find it here.

    DeWone Bennett also joins us today to talk about parental anxiety and paranoia. Along with all the technology advances like the 5G network, we have also advanced ways to keep watch on our houses, track other people's locations, etc. When it comes to parents doing this to kids, it can mean a whole different upbringing than someone who was born 20+ years ago. Kids are so much more easily caught doing something by their parents. This makes parents feel even MORE anxious and paranoid about their child's behaviors. DeWone talks all about this and how to not be a paranoid and anxious parent.

  • What’s With Wheat, Farmers are Planting Flowers Instead of Pesticides #1030

    The issue with wheat goes way beyond just gluten. Wheat has been eaten for thousands of years, yet as of late it is being linked to many health concerns. It seems that every product on the shelf now has a gluten-free option, but why? Cyndi O'Meara is an internationally acclaimed nutritionist and the founder of Changing Habits. She created the documentary "What's with Wheat," which investigates what is actually at the root of the problem with wheat. That would be: Glyphosate. I'm sure you've seen the news stories or commercials asking about a type of cancer linked with glyphosate, an ingredient in the product RoundUp. They have settled multiple lawsuits due to the link between glyphosate and cancer. You can find the documentary "What's with Wheat," here.

    Stephanie Toups always brings us the latest news. Today we talk about how farmers are including flowers in their fields of crops. They are doing this to reduce the use of pesticides and herbicides. This is also called biodiversity. Stephanie tells us how this is being done and why every farm should be trying out this practice. This links in with the wheat and the glyphosate that is wreaking havoc on our health.

    * Ticks
    * Dehydration and heat stroke
    * Pools and water
    * Cars
    * Snakes
    * Bee Stings
    * Sidewalks
    * Extra Fur
    * Barbecues and Family Cookouts

    Cassie Bjork talks about environmental toxins and how they are impacting our health. We talk about which fruits and vegetables are more susceptible to have toxins and how to avoid them. Cassie also talks about what these potential toxins are doing inside of your body.

    Shawn Wells joins us to talk about how to keep our skin as healthy as we can. This can be done through the foods we eat, the products we put on it, and the supplements we take. Shawn gives us the top supplements that will help your skin look tighter, more supple, clearer, and brighter. Here is his advice:

    "Berberine for glycation, CBD and curcumin for inflammation, and Green Tea, Red Wine and Blueberries (EGCG, Reservatrol, Pterostilbene, etc.) for antioxidants can help!

    Collagen – 10-40g daily will show benefits on skin being firmer and tighter…some studies as little as 5g. Vitamin C works with collagen and has synergy, so make sure you’re getting enough of this critical antioxidant.

    Lastly, an antioxidant found in marigolds and other plants, Lutein and Ze-axanthin (carotenoids) protect your skin and eyes from photodamage (light and sun.)"

  • Youth Substance Abuse & Deal with Your Stuff or Lose Relationship #1028

    The opioid epidemic is running rampant in our country. People are dying everyday due to an addiction to some sort of substance like an opioid. Now what's even more sad is the fact that our youth are becoming addicted too. Dr. Jonathan Avery is an expert on addiction. Today we talk with him about the current opioid crisis as well as youth substance abuse. The whole vape trend has become so out of control. Dr. Jonathan Avery talks about how kids are using vapes that have nicotine in them and they are completely unaware. They are simply joining the bandwagon, without realizing the potential risks. That is why parents must be vigilant and must be having that discussion with their kids at a much younger age than normal.

    Substance abuse, whether it be alcohol or drugs, usually effects someone in every family. When it hits the younger generations, it may seem difficult to find help. Kids are so vulnerable to just do what everyone else is doing. Dr. Avery tells us what we should do if our kids may be getting into any type of substance abuse.

    Von Eaglin joins us to talk about how your baggage should really be dealt with before you enter into a relationship. Everyone has baggage. Whether it be from family, a past relationship, or a past trauma. Von tells us how relationships can be seriously effected in a negative way by your own baggage. Annette Baker and Marianne Lacko have created something that is so special in the food industry. They began cooking for themselves and their families, friends, and co-workers. The meals they would make were not your average meals, they were hand-crafted plant-based meals. Most people don't understand that plant-based meals can be extremely flavorful, filling, and diverse. Nature's Plate is a store based in Dallas, and their food is AMAZING!

Mo Brossette is an expert on human behavior, mindset, movement and nutrition. Today he talks about fear, and why we really shouldn't fear it at all. If you think about some of the instances where you were scared about something but got up and handled it anyway, most likely that fear was overcome and you were stronger afterward. • Science of Happiness, Human Contact Now a Luxury? #1026

    Everyone wants to be happy. I don't think there is a single person on earth that desires unhappiness. This episode we have Dr. Leanne Young, she is the executive director of the Brain Performance Institute. Dr. Young talks with us about what happiness truly is, how you can find it, and why you may be having trouble experiencing happiness. A lot can get in the way of being happy, and shockingly even genetics play a part in happiness. She also talks about whether or not diet plays a part, and if you should take pharmaceuticals to help.

    Human contact and relationships contribute to our happiness as well. Dr. Mike McFarland is also in studio with us today.
