Back to in-person studio sessions!!! Rarely appearing on social media, or on media at all, is my friend Dejan Pavlica and he’s on this week’s podcast #022 to drop some wisdom from life as a sportsman turned family man. A karate black belt, and an ultra-marathon runner, Dejan’s more about the journey than the victory itself, and he’s a true fan of exercising in nature with family and friends.

On this episode, we continue the health & fitness topic with Marc Riachi, a local community Pharmacist of 15 years and former med-school professor at the University of Ottawa. We discuss the impact of Covid-19 on our community, trends in prescriptions, and mental-health approaches for our ever-more digitally-connected lifestyles.
In this strange new world full of video-chats, increased automation and artificial intelligence, how will we satisfy our primal & physiological needs? How can pharmacology and/or medication help? And what onus still remains upon us to improve our health?
Marc also shares with us part of his graduate studies including research on what almost became the “exercise pill”. One of his papers “Percent Relative Cumulative Frequency Analysis in Indirect Calorimetry: Application to Studies of Transgenic Mice” can be found here on PubMed: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15644949/?from_term=Marc+Riachi&from_pos=3
For more information on brown-fat energy potential, check out the previous episode of ONE:HOUR:IN Podcast #017 with Jacob Mark, a certified Wim Hof Method (WHM) Instructor, where we cover this scientifically-proven method to self-arouse the ANS (autonomic nervous system) for multiple performance, cognitive & emotional benefits. Jacob Mark is a certified Wim Hof Method instructor, specializing in deep-breathing techniques, cold exposure therapy (incl. cold showers & ice baths), plus the dedication & commitment, forming a trifecta of pillars that make this completely natural therapy accessible to everyone.
In this podcast, we covered everything from physiological arousal, stress response, the vagus nerve, as well as the interaction between adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. What are all these fancy words? They are neurotransmitters, part of the endocrine system, responsible for the hormones that regulate our body and can impact our mind, mood and more.
Wim Hof, the Iceman himself, has defied science and re-written a chapter of the book on human autonomic response. While it was a previously-held belief that we cannot control it, the Wim Hof Method has been put through the test. The results have been validated, replicated, and published in reputable scientific journals - PNAS and Nature.
Just look at the list of benefits: increased energy, better sleep, heightened focus & determination, improved sports performance, increased willpower, reduction of stress levels, greater cold tolerance, faster recovery, enhanced creativity and a stronger immune system.
This type of therapy so common it is now being introduced in classrooms and university courses. It's about taking control of the inner-journey within, and finding peace within ourselves. The external world's push & pull are taxing and demanding, yet we have the power of the Wim Hof Method to help re-align our center of energy inward. By finding peace, love and self-acceptance within, we are able to enjoy participating in life's journey, both internally and outward in the world.

By popular demand, I bring to you David Lordly! Given the current state of affairs in late April 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, we have an in-depth look at quantitative easing measures, which is bailing out people and business – but to what end? Hundredths of billions of stimulus funds can lead to hyperinflation and potentially the collapse of the existing financial system. We seem to be approaching measures resembling UBI (Universal Basic Income). Things have certainly changed, and we question if Covid-19 is an accidental lab leak, or a bioweapon for gain-of-function.
More importantly, is it the catalyst that propels us into an accelerated digital world, with minimized human interaction – both personally and professionally? And if so are we now ready to look at cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Ripple & Stellar Lumens as viable replacements to old-skool cash? Lastly, is there a greater force at hand playing here? Lots of questions that aren't so easily answered, on this episode 16 of the ONE:HOUR:IN Podcast.

The beacons are flashing bright in the studio, it's Khan Meigag & Adolph Riachi back in the space capsule studio t to discuss how we're focusing on a growth mindset rather than tuning in to all the non-sense. We covered free will, whether we'll run out of our desire to comply with these unprecedented lockdown measures, living in the moment and finding our peace within.
Onwards then to the nature of reality, the potential multi-dimensionality of existence, what may exist that our senses can't perceive, and the benefits of working out cardio, weights or yoga before hitting the sauna and then meditating in a state of physiological arousal; when you're "jacked up". You can get a free month of Sam Harris' excellent meditation course & app, here's a link: https://share.wakingup.com/0465f8ce4cea
Finally, growth is always spurred by reading a book, so pick one up that interests you - anything, for as long as it interests you - and get on it cause now's the time to connect with everyone you love and live with, and spend some time making the most out of this strange start to 2020 by developing yourself into a better, stronger, fitter, smarter person every day.
