"I am confident. I believe in myself and my abilities."
This week Rebecca and Maryann explore how we can recognize actions that lead to feelings of inadequacy, and what we can do to add a boost of confidence into our daily routine.
After reading this month's book club pick, The Gift of Forgiveness by Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, Maryann and Rebecca had some questions about who forgiveness is really for.
In today's episode they get real and raw about their thoughts on and experiences with forgiveness, along with some of their big take aways from the book.
This week on Oregon Raised, Kayla Melcher joins Maryann and Rebecca for a vulnerable conversation. Kayla felt compelled to share her struggles with depression and anxiety, as well as how she made it through life changing events such as losing her father at an early age, a friend to suicide, and escaping an emotionally abusive relationship. Her hope, as well as ours, is that anyone out there going through unhealthy situations know that they are strong enough to make it through and that there are resources out there to help. *Warning: This episode addresses sensitive topics including: teenage suicide, depression, underage drinking (Oregon Raised does not support or condone this behavior), counseling, and emotional abuse.*
Change is one of the things that you can count on in life. From the time we are born we are in a constant state of change, but how we handle it is different based off of life experiences. In this episode, Rebecca and Maryann talk about some of the changes they have gone through in their lives, their perspective on change, and the different ways you can look at change in your own life.
What does resilience mean to you? Life hands us different situations where we have to be resilient. In this episode we talk with our friend Tommy Hestmark about what resilience means to him in his role as an actor, mortgage broker, husband and father.
Trigger Warning: Tommy talks about his most recent role in The Bridge which talks about suicide.
At Oregon Raised want you to know that your life matters, and your story doesn't have to end. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide please call the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
Rebecca and Maryann take a look at what causes stress, how you can identify whether you are under stress, and ways you can decompress from or eliminate the stress you are under.
Rebecca and Maryann talk about a new recipe they added to their "dessert loophole": Chocolate Caramel Blondies. Tune in to see if they were successful!
This week Rebecca and Maryann tackle the uncomfortable topic of "Cancel Culture," and how its effect on society can lead people to fear being unfiltered in their conversations.
We are always on the hunt for a good read! When Rebecca's 21 Day Challenge group read Untamed by Glennon Doyle for their book club, she convinced Maryann that she needed to read it too!
Naturally, they wanted to bring their thoughts to the podcast, launching July's book club read. Make sure to check the Oregon Raised blog following the podcast for more thoughts on this amazing book and don't forget to let us know what you love about Untamed and Glennon Doyle's work!
