Our Moms Think We're Funny

Acomi and Turk182 kick back with another great episode of Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot. Episode 17, Destroy the Dam. Dr. Botanus and his extra large eyebrows are back, and he's brought the Gargoyle Vine with him. Johnny and Giant Robot defeated the Gargoyle Vine once before in episode 3, but will they succeed again? If they do, what does another failure mean for Dr. Botanus?

Acomi and Turk182 are joined by guest Generic for a viewing of the martial arts horror classic Silent Rage (1982).

Before Walker Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris was Dan Stevens, the sheriff of another Texas town. One with a bigger menace than that tv show could possibly hold. After being failed by his psychiatrist, who was a former surgeon, John Kirby goes on a rampage and kills two people; and maybe some kids. He's brought down by Dan and a slew of bullets from several deputies. The hospital's head surgeon tries an experimental procedure on Kirby, imbuing him with a healing factor and bringing him back to life. Kirby escapes from the hospital and goes on another rampage; targeting everyone who helped stop him before. But, there's one man he can't kill... Chuck Norris.

Join Acomi, Turk, and Generic as they embark on the first of many Chuck Norris movies.

Acomi enlightens Turk182 on a absurdity that went viral on TikTok. People on TikTok are saying that Helen Keller wasn't a real person. While some doubt the authenticity of her claims, such as flying a plain and writing a book, others cast doubt over whether she existed at all.

Helen Keller was a deaf, mute, and blind woman born in 1880, that was taught to read and communicate by teacher Anne Sullivan. Her story was made famous by the movie The Miracle Worker, based on the play, that was based on her autobiography.

While some of her accomplishments may cause doubt as to their validity, what's being denied is the easiest thing to prove. If she existed at all.

Acomi and Turk, in their own form of disbelief, talk about how disgustingly stupid this denial trend is, while questioning parts of Helen Keller's life.

Part 2

Acomi and Turk182 explore the art and short lived career of Canadian comic book artist Gene Day. A close friend and apprentice (of sorts) of artist Dave Sim, Gene did work for small press comics while trying to land a job at Marvel.

He was eventually hired as the inker artist for the martial arts comic The Hands of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, and later became the series artist with issue #100. His clean and detailed art, along with impressive layouts and design, caught readers attention and sales increased.

But, supposedly, not everyone liked Gene's panel layout and visual narrative. It's said, that editor Jim Shooter wasn't a fan of Gene's long, sequential action panels. A work incident involving a weekend trip to New York, big infested hotel, sleeping on the bullpen sofa, and lack of heat lead to his untimely death.

Join Acomi and Turk discuss the beauty of Gene's work and his near cinematic story telling. They look into the rumors surrounding his feud with Jim Shooter, and the weekend work trip that some believe cause his death. Learn about an artist who had a stunning talent for action scenes.
