Our Paranormal Afterlife : Finding Proof of Life After Death

Near Death Experience. This week I am talking to David Ditchfield about his Near Death Experience and his book 'Shine On'.

David had a freak accident and was pulled under the wheels of a speeding train. In the hospital afterwards, he had my amazing near-death experience (NDE). The NDE changed everything for him and inspired him to reach a level of musical and artistic creativity that he had never been capable of achieving before. At first, he felt compelled to produce paintings of what he'd seen in the Afterlife and then he felt moved to compose classical music, even though he'd never received any training in classical music and never composed such music before his NDE (in fact, to this day, he still cannot read or write a single note of music at all).

His debut symphony, The Divine Light, was inspired by his NDE and he was lucky enough to have it premiered at a sell-out performance. Since then, he has composed a follow-up symphony, 'The Falcon', which was also premiered at a sell-out concert, as was his Cambridge Clarinet Choir commissioned piece 'Awake', conducted by renowned Clarinet player Andrew Webster. He is currently composing a new symphony entitled 'I Wasn't Expecting This'. He came back from the Afterlife charged with an incredible energy, a burning desire to tell everyone there is nothing to fear after death, life continues on. Before his NDE, his life had been completely ruled by guilt and lack of self-worth. But his NDE gave him the self-love and confidence to go and try whatever he wanted to do in life and that's a wonderful feeling and he wants everyone to feel that way.

Across thousands of years, people have described one of the most astonishing of all human phenomena: the near-death experience (NDE), the subjective experience of an Afterlife, a place where we apparently survive death. The more powerful the NDE, the more profound the after effects. The ambitious reset their priorities. Atheists change their values. Doctors rethink their beliefs. Reincarnation. In this episode I am talking to Changzhen Li about his book '100 Cases of Reincarnation Among Dong People'.

This week I am talking to Dr Marylin Mendoza about her book 'We Do Not Die Alone: Jesus Is Coming to Get Me in a White Pickup Truck'

Marilyn Mendoza, Ph.D., is a clinical instructor in the psychiatry department at Tulane University Medical Center and a private practice psychologist specializing in bereavement.

The book is an amazing chronicle of the nurses who have been present at the bedside of their dying patients. These patients have seen familiar "people" who have come to help them make their transitions. These experiences have left the patients, their families and their nurses with a deep sense of peace.

These are just some of the stories that were collected while conducting a survey on the effects of deathbed visions on nurses. A deathbed vision (DBV) is a vision or experience that the individual has before dying. They can occur immediately before death, days or even weeks prior. Patients have reported seeing dead family members, religious figures or beautiful scenery. With a DBV, unlike a Near Death Experience (NDE), death is final and no one comes back to talk about the experience.

The stories were a product of a survey conducted among various nursing professionals in Louisiana prior to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and in Maryland in 2006. There were 234 respondents (221 Registered Nurses and 13 Licensed Practical Nurses) from hospices, hospitals, nursing conferences, nursing homes and home health facilities. The forms were filled out anonymously and with the exception of age and sex, no identifying information was given about the patients. The survey consists of 14 items which were developed to examine nurses’ perceptions of deathbed visions. The last item was a blank page in which nurses were asked to write about some of their more memorable experiences. The stories in this book are the result of these responses. The nurses’ words are as they were written.

'A male hospice patient in his 60’s with cancer was minimally responsive and nearing transition when he sat up and began to call for his mother. He was smiling joyfully and described his mother as coming to get him in a white pickup truck. She was sitting in the passenger seat next to Jesus who was driving the truck. His little pet bird was sitting on Jesus’ shoulder. The man died shortly after this. On his wife’s return home, she found the little pet bird was dead in its cage.'

Near Death Experience. This week I am talking to Natalie Sudman about her book 'Application of Impossible Things - My Near Death Experience in Iraq'.

Natalie worked as a female civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers in Basrah and Nasiriyah, Iraq, she was riding in a truck when a roadside bomb destroyed the vehicle. As a result of the severe injuries her body received from this roadside bomb, Natalie had a near-death experience where she left her body and entered the spirit world. There it was decided that her work on Earth was not done and with the help of spirit guides, they repaired the body so she could reenter it. She retained the conscious memory of what happened and during the time in the hospital, more details returned. Before this experience, Sudman was dubious about anything that smacked of the paranormal. This experience made her a believer.

Application of Impossible Things - My Near Death Experience in IraqThere have been many, many people killed and maimed by bomb explosions during the war in Iraq. This is the amazing story of a woman who survived a near fatal explosion. Incredibly, that was only the beginning of her story. During the event, she experienced a NDE (Near Death Experience). She retained vivid memories of going to the spirit side and from that unique out-of-body perspective; she helped celestial beings put her body back together so she could return to life. She wanted to share what the experience was like as viewed from the spirit side.

After being injured in Iraq, Natalie retired from government service. She is now enjoying art, writing, and continuing explorations into the non-physical. Natalie has also been a subject of studies performed by the University of Virginia’s Division of Perceptual Studies, and welcomes invitations to act as a lab rat for any scientific investigation. Near-Death Experience. This week I am talking to Pim van Lommel about his book 'Consciousness Beyond Life: The Science of the Near-Death Experience'.

For more than twenty years cardiologist Pim van Lommel has studied near-death experiences (NDEs) in patients who survived a cardiac arrest. In 2001, he and his fellow researchers published a study on Near Death Experiences in the renowned medical journal The Lancet. He, then, wrote the Dutch bestseller Endless Consciousness in 2007; over 100.000 copies were sold in the first year.

The NDE is an authentic experience which cannot be attributed to imagination, psychosis or oxygen deprivation. After such an profound experience, patient’s personalities underwent a permanent change. In Van Lommel’s opinion, the current views on the relationship between the brain and consciousness held by most physicians, philosophers and psychologists is too narrow for a proper understanding of the NDE phenomenon.
