Questions commandeer the brain. Take this example, what colour are you wearing? Your brain is compelled to provide an answer, isn't it? You didn't need to search your memory, force or direct yourself to do it, your mind jumped onto it right away.

That's why questions, when phrased a certain way, can help us to get to the bottom of an issue. The answers may surprise you and give you an insightful way of where you need to turn your attention or start doing things differently.

"I know when I'm anxious, I know when I'm doing it, I know it's not logical, but I can't stop." 

Well, thank your unconscious mind! It's actively looking for danger. It's the part of the mind that helps you get out of trouble. You know, it's the part of the mind that if you're driving, you can swerve quickly or you can brake quickly. So it's an excellent part of the mind. It's really fabulous. 

Our unconscious mind is not really geared up for making change, or certainly not making change easily. It's geared up. For keeping us safe and for survival. And so, because it prefers you to be in a real comfortable comfort zone, your unconscious mind would like you to sit on the sofa and not do too much.

In that way, you're keeping safe. Of course, as a human being, we don't want to do that. We want to experience things. We want to challenge ourselves. We want to learn stuff. And so, when we decide we're not just going to sit on a sofa all day,  then this is when the unconscious mind potentially gets a little bit triggered. So here's how to start negotiating with that part of the mind and allow it to feel comfortable when riding.

We hold tension in our bodies when we're cold, when we're nervous and also by habit. Often, we hold tension in parts of the body we don't even know about - the muscles of the head, face and jaw being examples.
