Sid and Keith, our host, in this episode how they shift from the summer into the fall season. The guys discuss how can we take advantage of the new season.
For most business owners (or at least for our host) is that this changing of seasons is one that things slow down and Sid and Keith take this fall season to begin to set sights on the upcoming year and make whatever tweaks necessary to be better next year. These seasons are vital for a successful business therefore, if fall is not your slow down season find your slow down season so you can take some time to dream and tweak your business so you can get better. The saying “practice makes perfect” is a lie. Practice alone does not make you better, experience alone does not make you better. Evaluated experience makes you better. So you need these season of evaluation in order to grow as a business.
Ways that you can evaluate your experience is having intentional conversations with your employees. Asking them what they need to be more successful, do they need any equipment to be upgraded/replaced, are there any other resources that they need? Conversations like these can be eye openers for you to see what your employees actual needs are and you aren’t left guessing or making assumptions about what they need because your assumptions are probably wrong anyways. The next way that you can evaluate your experience is sending out surveys to your customers and employees. By doing this you get to see what both the inside of you company is feeling and what those you are serving are thinking as well. This helps you see what changes you might need to make and what you are doing well.
“when seasons change your message changes”You have to know the flow of your business and throughout the year you have to gain the awareness of what to be communicate to your employees and customers. This is why evaluating is important, because the knowledge you gain through evaluating helps you find what message you need to be communicating during specific times of the year. During the evaluating time you will discover problems and it is vital not to allow those issues to fester.
Even during the more fast paced times right when you discover a problem you cannot allow the issue to fester. The more time you allow that problem to fester the more that issue becomes. Small things will become big things the more time you allow the issue to sit unaddressed.
All of that is just the beginning of learning how to shift with the season to take advantage of the new season and finish your year strong. You do not want to miss this episode.
