  • EP218 Podcast Rewind: EP110 How making Small Daily Choices Create Big Changes

Welcome to Episode 218 where we grab another episode from the vault that focuses on how all the little things really do add up.

In this episode we look into how even though we may not see it yet, it's all the tiny choices we have made every day that have brought us to where we are today, for better or worse. Therefore, it is the intentional healthy choices we can begin to make TODAY that will add up over time, to help us reach our goals. Tiny choices create big changes if we are diligent and determined!

    Key Elements:

    · Address how we can be unconscious to how our daily choices shape our future.

    · Look at ways to begin creating a plan to reach your goals.

    · Identify what we need to focus on if we want our daily choices to be healthier ones.

If we want to make a real

difference in our lives, we need to step up,

    take control of our actions,

and focus on what we can change.

  • EP217 Podcast Rewind: EP109: What Choosing Looks Like in Communication

Welcome to Episode 217 where we grab another episode from the vault – one that looks at what it means to keep yourself, and the other person, in a place of choice when communicating.

In this episode we explore what it means to keep choice in our connections with others. To demonstrate healthy boundaries, detachment, and therefore personal ownership of what belongs to us, and allowing the other to always be choosing. To not be passive-aggressive via indirect requests or other manipulations. To not take on the victim role that says: "Because of you…I". Being clear, owning our thoughts and feelings, and practicing detachment makes us better communicators and safer to be around.

    Key Elements:

    • Look at how we can avoid choosing and instead present with a victim-based mindset.
    • Identify how blurred boundaries create emotional hostage-taking.
    • Practice "being in choice" in your communication, creating emotional safety and the atmosphere for deeper connection.

    When we're not direct,

when we don't own our truth,

when we don't speak with emotional honesty,

we make it unsafe for them to be vulnerable as well.

  • EP216 Podcast Rewind: EP119 The Essence of Assertiveness is Integrity

EP216 Podcast Rewind: EP119 The Essence of Assertiveness is Integrity

Welcome to Episode 216 where we grab episode 119 from the archives and spend some time talking about a big aspect of being assertive and standing in our truth: integrity.

In this episode we get into what some of the most important aspects of our integrity are, from defining our values to identifying several ways we can become more honest and open. To know how we want to behave. How we want to treat other people and what kind of life we essentially want to have. Being assertive requires that we are first proud of who we are, and more certain of our truth before we can put that out into the world.

However, the true test of integrity lies in living it out consistently, which is HARD!!!! especially when confronted with challenging circumstances that may tempt us to compromise our principles. In those moments of trial, our integrity acts as a moral compass, guiding us towards the path of righteousness and virtue. The strength of our character shines through when we hold on to our principles, even when it's hard. I also think that when we live this out the best we can, we have a lot less internal conflict and thus less anxiety and greater confidence.

    Key Elements:

    · Explore how what you value and believe helps define integrity for you.

    · Look at how emotional honesty and healthy boundaries play a big part.

    · Utilize visualization to help us define where we would like to be.

Truly caring means focusing on what is

    for another's highest good,

and check ourselves that we aren't

making it all about US. About what WE want for them.

So that WE can feel needed.

Because WE think we know what's best.

  • EP215 Podcast Rewind: EP163 What it Means to Be Empowered

Welcome to Episode 215 where we grab episode 163 from the archives and spend some time talking about one of the core concepts of the show, and that is Personal Empowerment. We started out the podcast defining this, yet it's been a while and time for a great refresher. This month as you get ready for this current season to wind down and the new one to begin, let's take some time to focus in on what it truly takes to feel, look and be empowered to be the person you were always meant to be.

In this episode we explore all the pieces we will talk about this month, including how empowered people have certain qualities that enable them to feel confident and to be authentic. Each week we will talk more about just how important these are, and how to work on them.

    Key Elements:

    • Describe the necessary pieces of empowerment.
    • Define what personal empowerment truly is.
    • Talk about what empowered people do.

    Being empowered means that

our personal power comes from within,

    not outsourced to others' appreciation

    or valuation of us.

We take responsibility for our own path,

our choices and thus our happiness.

  • EP214 From the Vault: 135 What We Do to Keep People Out: Self-Abandonment Rescuing and Other Fun Behaviors.

In this episode we pulled from the vault, we get honest. Honest about some of the ways we can hide in our relationships, and even to the extent that we lose who we are and create enmeshment which just leads to resentment. We talk about self-abandonment, and the different ways we can play that out. When we do these things, we aren't vulnerable, and we especially aren't being emotionally honest with ourselves or others. This hurts our connections and hurts our self-esteem.

    Key Elements:

    · Identify how self-abandonment begins in childhood, and why.

    · Address issues of rescuing, enabling and losing sight of our own needs.

    · Discuss ways to prevent and address losing yourself in relationships.

Self-Abandonment is a Sneaky Slippery Slope.

Slipping back into old survival behavior of looking

to others to meet all your needs

and lose yourself in the process…

As we usually talk about on the show, vulnerable emotionally honest conversation IS assertive and healthy, and what creates genuine connection in conversation. We talk about how rediscovering your confident inner four-year-old and beginning to use your voice to express your truth. With kindness, firmness, and the vibe that you are straight with YOU. • EP212 From the Vault: EP144 Healthier Communication Owning Your Truth

In this episode we pulled from the vault, I discuss the importance of healthy communication in relationships. I emphasize the need for clarity, directness, and emotional honesty to establish trust and safety. I then highlight the detrimental effects of emotional dishonesty, such as hiding feelings and desires, which can create distance and anxiety. Owning one's truth is crucial for building trust, both with others and oneself.

In this episode we explore the reasons why people struggle to own their truth. I explain how societal pressures and early experiences of being discouraged from expressing thoughts and emotions can lead to disowning oneself. This disowning process can contribute to issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and unhealthy relationships. It becomes vital to reclaim ownership of various aspects, including thoughts, beliefs, passions, feelings, behaviors, grief, fears, struggles, dreams, and mistakes.

However, I acknowledge that owning it can be challenging, especially when it involves conflicts, manipulation, or letting go of people and things that no longer align with one's true self. Despite the difficulties, I note the many benefits of owning one's truth. It fosters a sense of grounding, confidence, self-trust, and safety for both yourself and others.

    Key Elements:

    · Talk about the importance of owning your truth for self-confidence, emotional trust, and safety in relationships.

    · Participate in an experiential exercise to get you thinking.

    · Explore how It is the key to developing healthy relationships, being proud of who you are, discovering and utilizing your gifts, and truly living in the present moment.

    WHEN YOU SPEAK YOUR TRUTH

You will feel more grounded and confident.

    You will trust yourself more.

Others will trust you and feel safe with you.

It's the only way to have healthy relationships with yourself and others.

It's the only way to be proud of who you are.

It's the only way to find and use your gifts. Maybe your purpose.

The only way to BE IN The moment and truly live.
