Then a thrilling game in Dallas last night which saw a thrilling finish and tensions boil over, which leads to Islander fans circling the date of the Stars' return to UBS Arena in March on their calendars.

I touch upon last week's tragic passing of longtime New York Rangers NY Post beat writer Larry Brooks, and the impact he left upon the Blueshirts community as well as the New York hockey community.

As a lifelong Islander fan and as someone who has shared the press box with several Isles beatwriters, I felt it was my obligation to touch upon how Brooksie shaped the way the Islanders are covered to this very day. It was his advocacy for fairness in hockey coverage that led to the Post covering the Islanders beat today, courtesy of Ethan Sears' columns.

Zohran Mamdani's victory in the 2024 New York City Mayoral Election was not at all a shocker to anyone who has paid attention to the race, and felt like a formality ever since he beat Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary this summer.

So many pundits think that's the end of New York City as we know it but really, I think we'll be fine as a city. This may be the start of rough times depending on how Zohran's tenure as Mayor goes, but I've had hope that whoever becomes the new Mayor will do what is best for all New Yorkers. Whether it was Zohran, Cuomo, or Curtis.

I hope I'm proven right on that, as that's what I hope to bring to you all today. Also featuring some Jets news as the NFL Trade Deadline coincided with Election Day!

For the first time since 1993, the Toronto Blue Jays are in the World Series and New York baseball fans like myself are rooting for Don Mattingly’s Blue Jays in this one, hoping that as the Jays bench coach, that he will win the World Series ring that alluded him in the Bronx.

I also reflect on the fact that 10 years ago today, I saw the Mets make their only World Series in my lifetime thus far and hope that they can get back there sooner than later.
