The old saying goes, “We eventually become our parents", but is that really true? Fortunately, we have Ally Probst and Joel Willis to put in print the mandatory laws all Dads must obey when they encounter a certain situation. Their book is entitled Dad Law: The Definitive Reference for All Things Dad. In the book, they answer all our burning questions.
Should I really threaten to turn this car around? Should I let my kids beat me at Mario Kart? Should I mention how much cooler music was back in my day?
All will be revealed in this informative episode.

Have you ever watched the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and wished "Gee, why don't they represent more of the classic alternative music artists that I love?" Better yet, have you ever wished "Gee, why isn't this show hosted by two crochety Gen-X'ers moaning about St. Valentine and impregnating cats?" You have!?!? Well, hot dog, you're in luck...because it's time to join ol' UG & Corpsey for the 2nd Annual O3L Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
Last year, we inducted 10 artists who were crucial in shaping the music we discuss on O3L:
Who made it in this year? Guess you'll just have to listen. But YOU (yes, YOU!) can be a part of the voting committee. Post or message us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, or email us at [email protected] with your picks. We will induct the artist with the most votes as well.
In the O3L Spotlight this week, we have new Isle of Wight punk band George Street Kids, produced by Loft/Chesterfields guitarist Andy Strickland. Conveniently, their stomping debut single is also called "George St. Kids." It's out now at https://georgestreetkids.bandcamp.com.

Wendy Malloy is an editor, writer, mother, and volunteer leader for the Florida Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. In our discussion, she remembers her first boyfriend singing “Born to Run” to her. We share her brush with greatness with Bruce, her being at the first show after losing Danny and we discuss how she is OK with the set list not changing much, in fact she could care less. Around 43 minutes into our discussion we spend some time talking about the current state of gun violence in the US and how she is working with the Florida Chapter of Moms Demanding Action for Gun Sense. The weekend we are releasing this is National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend so it seemed the perfect time to release our discussion. #wearorange

Kosh is a Grammy Award Winning art director and former design director for Apple Records. His first project was John Lennon and Yoko's “War Is Over (if you want it)” Christmas card, which led to the worldwide WAR IS OVER billboard campaign that continues to this day. He designed The Beatles’ Let It Be book and album package and the Abbey Road album cover, as well as John & Yoko’s Wedding Album boxed set.
He worked extensively with Linda Ronstadt, garnering three Grammys for her albums, Simple Dreams, Get Closer and Lush Life. He designed and art directed the iconic logo and cover, Hotel California for the Eagles, the classic logo for ELO as well as several albums for James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet and Dan Fogelberg.
In today's episode, Kosh shares more memorable moments working for The Beatles and Lennon, namely the day he got to witness The Beatles perform LIVE for the very last time on top of the Apple Corps Headquarters on Jan 30th, 1969, and his participation in John Lennon's art exhibit titled Bag One, which showcased the erotic art Lennon sketched during his honeymoon with Yoko Ono.
We also discuss the Marvin Gaye album cover, Here, My Dear, he worked on that so aptly exposed the pain and emotion Gaye was feeling during his divorce at the time. Kosh also had the privilege of working with Richard Pryor and art directing several albums for James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and Jimmy Buffet - and we cover it all in this episode of My Rock Moment.

In this bonus episode (which is really an addendum to Season 1 Episode 6, featuring Zachary Lazar’s rock novel ‘Sway’, a story that brings together the early Rolling Stones, the films of avant-garde filmmaker Kenneth Anger, and members of the Manson Family in a fictional setting) Scott Michaels joins me to talk about Sharon Tate and the Manson Murders and what it was like working with Quentin Tarantino on his film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
Scott Michaels is Hollywood’s original authority on celebrity deaths, including the Manson Murders, and a former tour guide for LA’s now-defunct Dearly Departed Tours. Quentin Tarantino hired Scott to be a consultant on ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, which reimagines the murders of Sharon Tate, Voytek Frykowski, Jay Sebring, and Abigail Folger at the hands of the Manson Family in early August 1969.
This past April, Scott gave me a once-in-a-lifetime, one-on-one, all-day tour of major Manson Family points of interest in Los Angeles and the surrounding area, which we talk about in this bonus episode. We also talk about common misconceptions about the murders, Scott’s experience working with Quentin Tarantino on ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, Scott’s favorite nonfiction books about the murders, people related to the case he’s known, and little-known tidbits about the murders, like what book Abigail Folger was reading when she was killed.
So, cue up The Beatles’ ‘White Album’, slip into your favorite retro threads, kick back and join Scott Michaels and me as we time travel back to 1969 Southern California to revisit the true crime that brought an end to the free lovin’ groovy ‘60s.
Afterward, I invite you to check out Season 1 Episode 6 to hear my conversation with Zachary Lazar about his novel ‘Sway’ and Tony Sokol’s thoughts on the Stones and the occult and Zeena Schreck’s memories of her godfather Kenneth Anger.
*Listen to the episode, then watch the condensed video version of my interview with Scott Michaels. This version includes photos and videos I shot during my Manson Murders tour with Scott in April 2023.

Season 5 Episode 35 - The Freewheeling Catch-Up Machine #4 – I Mostly Just Watch TV
FEATURED SONG:
The Drop - "Flunky Fesh" (from Long Held Grudges)
This is the second catch-up episode of the season. Does that mean the season is over? In the immortal words of Jordan Peele, NOPE. And I’ll tell you why.
I’ll also go over fan comments and things I missed from the last 14 regular episodes and three Podfasts. It leans heavily toward my TV music episode, since so many of you chimed in on that one. So I’m taking the opportunity to talk a little about why TV is so important to me, from a music standpoint.
Did I miss your comment? Are there other things from these episodes you wish I’d mentioned, added, or corrected? Discuss dammit!
