Rita Wilde is simply put, a radio legend, having spent over 25 years as a DJ, Music Director and Program Director at 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles. She epitomizes the rock fan's dream of playing and talking about the music and actually getting to meet and talk with your rock idols. Rita represents all of us, which is why we love to hear her enthusiasm whenever she flips on a mic. She shares our joy in the music. So, of course it was our joy to invite Rita into our virtual studio to talk about her career and the music she continues to love with "no surrender" (shoutout to Springsteen) in site. Afterwards, we discuss a station to the extreme right of 95.5, 106.7 to be exact, as we get to songs 90 to 81 from the 1986 KROQ year end playlist.

Hello, Lit listeners. As you know, Rock is Lit is a podcast about rock novels. Well, in this episode, we’re going rogue. Melissa Ragsly is here to talk about the music-related stories in her short story collection, ‘We Know This Will All Disappear’. We’ll be name dropping folks like The Beatles, Metallica, FTD, Patti Smith, and Guns N Roses.
Speaking of Guns N Roses, their song “Rocket Queen” is a major motif in the story “Mannequin,” so AAron Camaro, co-host of the Decibel Geek podcast, another proud member of the Pantheon Podcast Network, joins me in the last segment to do a deep dive into that song. FYI: AAron’s is the voice behind that “Rock is Lit!” shout out in the intro and outro of the podcast. Make sure you stick around to hear more from AAron.

The Sex Pistols were one of the most controversial music acts of all time. They spat at, swore at and ripped up the establishment causing a moral outcry in the UK. Today I'm joined by founding member Glen Matlock to reflect on the sad passing of Vivienne Westwood, talk about the Sex Pistols, those crazy early days, leaving the band, the awkwardness of the reunion, his unhappiness at last years TV show, his famous one-off gig with Sid Vicious, working with The Faces and Ronnie Wood, Blondie, Midge Ure and his new album Consequences Coming. It's a fascinating chat with a man who's worked with so many incredible artists from the world of music.

We're taking you back to Episode THREE, recorded nearly four years ago! Luckily, Van Halen is evergreen and author Greg Renoff reveals the untold story of how the legendary band began, playing backyard parties in Los Angeles, This unique pre-history takes you from those high school bashes to funky dive bars with wet t-shirt contests, and, eventually, to the Sunset Strip and beyond.
