Host Nate Wilcox discusses Yoko Ono's unique approach to music, her collaboration with John Lennon, her training in both Western and Japanese classical musics, her experience with the Western musical avant-garde and how she translated that background into a rock context.

The Grateful Dead are among the most unlikely stars in the history of rock and roll. They created a culture and became one of the most famous bands in the world on their own terms. They toured relentlessly, made things up as they went and didn’t care about making mistakes. They never cared about being famous, and would probably hate me even calling them stars in this monologue.
In this trippy episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we’re taking a look at Grateful Dead – the music, the drugs, the bootlegs, the Deadheads, their impact on music, their legacy, and what it’s like seeming in them in concert. Turn on, tune in, and drop out.
Our show is sponsored by our home base of McCusker's Tavern at 17th and Shunk Streets in Philadelphia. We are proud supporters of our friends at Boldfoot Socks. We are just one of the dozens of awesome shows on the Pantheon Podcast Network.

This week we're upping the irons as we pick The Best & Worst of 80's Iron Maiden! Joining us for this talk is Chris Dunnett of Powerslave (The Iron Maiden Experience). Chris has been a die-hard Iron Maiden fan since the early days. His fandom has led him on a cool path that includes not only his great tribute band but two opportunities to actually appear on stage with Iron Maiden themselves!
In this episode, we're focusing on the formative years of the band. We start with the two Paul Di'Anno-fronted albums Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981). From there, we go over the Bruce Dickinson era including Number of the Beast (1982), Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), Somewhere in Time (1986), and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988). For each of these albums, we'll share our thoughts and memories on them and pick what we think are the best and worst tracks. Will we agree? Will we disagree and start yelling at each other? Will our picks infuriate you? You'll have to listen to find out!
We also cover the upcoming Powerslave/Rock United show taking place this weekend at Bowies in Nashville. It's gonna be a great night of rock and metal music.
What are YOUR favorite/least favorite tracks from the 80's Iron Maiden albums? List your choices in the comments below!
We hope you enjoy The Best & Worst of 80's Iron Maiden and SHARE with a friend!
