Ced Gee stops by Unique Access with Soren Baker to discuss his belief that Scott La Rock was assassinated. The Ultramagnetic MC's member also tells Soren Baker that he shouldn’t have produced Tim Dog’s LP. The Bronx rapper-producer also says it is his fault for not getting “Criminal Minded" production credit & that Ultramagnetic MC’s passed on a Def Jam Recordings deal. Ced Gee also details Schoolly D being an anomaly, how Salt-N-Pepa’s success cost Ultramagnetic MC’s, why he hates “Funk Your Head Up” & that the “Saga Of Dandy, The Devil & Day” needed to be done. Assembling in the studio at various points during 1976 through 1977, The Band put together a plan for Islands. It was described later by Robbie as being similar to The Who’s Odds & Sods album. In essence, it was a hodgepodge of older recordings along with some newer cuts to complete their eight album record deal with Capitol.
Regardless of all of the exterior distractions, The Band were still professionals. They were incapable of putting out terrible music and they assembled ten tracks that while uneven still pack a serious punch. And with that, the original incarnation of The Band was done. It wasn’t executed perfectly but nothing ever truly is. As many fans, critics and peers have mentioned, The Band was one of the finest groups of musicians that ever played and while they may have not gone out exactly as planned, their influence was never diminished.
The Band: A History is produced, written and hosted by Tyrell William Lisson with additional research and writing by Alex McGillivray and post-production sound and editing by Michael Koehler.

Singer/Songwriter/Actor John Doe tells terrific tales: hanging with Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder in Memphis, gigging with Nick Lowe in London and hearing his voice come out of Christian Bale’s mouth in Todd Haynes’s Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
Did John’s appearance with LA punk band X on the Letterman Show in 1983 inspire Dylan’s wild 1984 set with The Plugz? What did he say when he suddenly found himself face-to-face with Bruce Springsteen at that Grammy thing? Did Jerry Lee Lewis actually call him a "fucking asshole" the first time they met? John raves about Tulsa’s new Bob Dylan Center and answers all the above questions, as he presses on…
John Doe and his bandmates in X made 6 studio recordings from 1978-1993. He has recorded 9 solo records, collaborating with Patty Griffin, Dan Auerbach, Aimee Mann, Don Was, Kathleen Edwards, Dave Alvin and Greg Liesz. Doe has acted in over 50 films and television productions including Road House, Great Balls of Fire, Pure Country and Roswell. His musical side projects include work with The Knitters and The Sadies. Doe co-wrote the definitive book about the LA punk rock scene, Under The Big Black Sun. His new album, Fables In A Foreign Land, was inspired by John Wesley Harding. John currently lives in Austin, Texas.

Well what a week it has been! Our lovely Kate is now sitting at #1 on Spotify, she has scored her first top 10 hit in the US, she's reentered the UK charts.....
And it's all because of a Netflix show!
This week, we're adding on to the story of Running Up That Hill, which you may remember I recorded back in 2019 here! Well, now there's more to the story!
The show Stranger Things used Running Up That Hill in the current season as a favorite song for one of the main characters, Max. In the fourth episode, the song is further used as a device to save Max's life. Because of this emotional scene, Running Up That Hill has been introduced to millions of new fans, especially younger fans. We're going to talk about how this song came to be used in Stranger Things, what Kate thinks of the show (she's a fan!), and our own thoughts on the exploding popularity of this song.
You can find that pivotal scene here on YouTube.
