  • What Difference Does It Make: Larry "The Duck" Dunn Dares to be Different
Larry "The Duck" Dunn steps into the What Difference Does It Make virtual studio to provide some insight into the New York 80s music scene. Larry started his career at 92.7 WLIR, where he became the Music Director and helped shape the sound of this influential New York radio station. In between our banter about WLIR, Larry's personal experiences with the artists, and his time in the clubs, we look to Los Angeles and the 1985 year-end chart from KROQ. This episode, we look at songs #100 to #91. There are a few lost classics, as well as some songs from classic rockers in this ten-song-chunk. You can also hear Larry on SiriusXM's 1st Wave channel and also streaming on WDARE.

  • Ditty TV: The Cactus Blossoms
Our guests this hour are Page Burkum and Jack Torrey a.k.a. The Cactus Blossoms, easily one of the most listenable bands we’ve had the pleasure of discovering in recent years. Today, Page and Jack chat with Amy Wright about the making of their upcoming studio album, One Day, which is set to release on February 11th via their own label Walkie Talkie Records. • Performance Anxiety: Peat Rains (You Bred Raptors?)
If you’re looking for new music, this is the episode for you. Peat Rains of You Bred Raptors? (with the question mark) is the guest. He’s the kind of guy who started playing bass because everyone else was playing guitar. His introduction to music was a little different than most. His earliest influence was his deadhead pastor father. Immediately after high school, he was signed to a label in a Pennsylvania diner. It was one of those milkshake type of deals. He started playing 8 string bass because of a typo and a friend willing to front him $700. The band You Bred Raptors? has paid its dues by busking in New York City subways. But that’s also how they got the gig opening for Yoko Ono at MOMA, a TED Talk, and several birthday parties. Peat is very candid about being difficult to define, winning the all important wife demographic, and what Rick Springfield has or has not done for him. We also find out about the strangest tip the band has ever received. Follow the band @youbredraptors on social media. Buy music on Bandcamp or at their website youbredraptors.com (which is where you can also book them for YOUR next birthday party). Follow us @PerformanceAnx on social media. Support us at ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety or performanceanx,threadless.com. And without further delay, Peat Rains of You Bred Raptors? on Performance Anxiety on the Pantheon Podcast Network.

  • Goldmine: Mandoki Soulmates
Producer, composer and drummer Leslie Mandoki comes on the Goldmine Podcast to talk about the latest album by prog rock supergroup Mandoki Soulmates, Utopia For Realists. Mandoki Soulmates can be called a supergroup because of its many collaborators — beginning in its infancy with contributions from Jon Lord, Greg Lake and Jack Bruce and currently involving the likes of Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Mike Stern, Al DiMeola on the latest release. Leslie has stories to share, as a Hungarian refugee in 1975, escaping the Iron Curtain, to working with the late Soulmate bassist Jack Bruce (Cream) to vocalist Eric Burden (Animals, War) and Phil Collins (Genesis), Prog lovers will take a lot from this particular episode.
