  • Louis C.K. In Studio! — Papa’s Basement 547
The most adorable, "aw, shucks" masturbator that ever lived.

...in spirit! In studio in spirit. There, now that you've clicked AND I'm legally off the hook, I hope you enjoy the episode. Producer Pete revisits his bombshell revelation from last week's episode (that Kevin Spacey hounded him for play for years. He actually did, this isn't like the Louis lie), we discuss the accusations facing Louis C.K. and why some of us will be able to possibly enjoy his comedy in the future while some of us won't (guest comedian Christine O'Dea does a great job on this one) and I wrap things up with one of the most incredibly embarrassing stories you'll hear this year. It involves man-on-man massage, public sexual arousal and a whole lot of soul-searching. You'll enjoy.

  • Pete’s Celebrity Bombshell — Episode 546
Actor. Accused. Friend of Pete Maybe.

For as long as I've known Pete, he has sat on an incredibly cool morsel of news. It's something I never pressed him to mention on-air because, frankly, it was his business. But, given what's been one of the largest stories in the news this week, I thought it was time that Pete come clean.

You see...Pete is friends with Kevin Spacey.

This isn't a joke or a bit. Pete legitimately knows and regularly hangs out with Kevin Spacey. If you wanna know how or why, well, you can listen to the damn episode. But we both thought it would be remiss of Pedro to not tell his own story about the man given the accusations actor Anthony Rapp hurled at the actor's feet earlier this week. We also talk the artwork from a recently released box of Kellogg's Corn Pops that some have deemed racist and I offer an insight on NOT HEARD ANYWHERE ELSE (if I do sing my own praises). So it's a great episode and you won't wanna miss it.

  • MINDHUNTER!!! — Papa’s Basement Show
I think we can all agree that Ed Kemper is the most adorably huggable serial killer ever and he looks like a cartoon bear come to life, right?

Netflix's latest show (or close to it, they launch five of these damn things a minute), Mindhunter, is an exploration of the FBI's first forays into investigating serial killers. It is incredibly well done, but, damn if some of the dialogue isn't incredibly disgusting. I mean, couldn't they have talked about disemboweling people without the locker room talk?? There are children present!

Anyhow, we play some of our favorite filthy clips from the show, I discuss why October 27th, which brings with it both Stranger Things Season 2 and Nintendo's Super Mario Odyssey might forever-overload my dopamine receptors, Sarah celebrates her love of Anna Kendrick with an impassioned soliloquy (that sounds fancy, right?) and Travis lets me know that the stick figures I've been drawing of his mother mid-broadcast on another show we do together have been discovered by her...and not warmly received. And if you wanna learn the details to any of that stuff, you'll have to listen to hear them!

  • Hugh Hefner Dies — Papa’s Basement 544
Sadly, this woman, the subject of debate in the show's last ten minutes, was not photographed for Playboy. But, dammit, she should have been.

How naive of me to think that Hugh Hefner dying would be the worst thing that happened to this country this week. The Papa's Basement Show mourns the passing of the grand old man of porn, exploring what he meant beyond our first glimpsed breasts. We also debate why modern rap is so unbelievably shitty and if you'd sleep with the world's hottest midget. It's the typical quality smut you've come to expect from us. Enjoy!

  • The Juggalos March On Washington — Papa’s Basement 543
Juggalos remind me of myself in that they make the right points in the most ridiculous, off-putting and unattractive ways possible.

Fans of the clown-rap (Christ, that's a genre) group the Insane Clown Posse are known as "Juggalos." In 2011, the Juggalos were somehow branded a gang by the FBI, despite being nothing more than a white trash version of Deadheads. To protest the decision, the clown-garbed listeners of this unapologetically crap music descended on our hometown of DC over the weekend to march on Washington. Despite every fiber of my being wishing for it to be a complete shit-show that culminated in an orgy of pepper spray and rubber bullets, things apparently went well. Boo. We talk the Juggalos, Pete's fantastic trip to a local, hidden sex shop next to the radio studio and the heartbreaking descent of my once-internet girlfriend, Brittany Furlan, on the latest Papa's Basement Podcast.

  • Paw Paw Fruit In Paw Paw’s Basement — Papa’s Basement 542
This is a paw paw fruit. It looks vaguely like a side of beef, but it supposedly goes down like banana custard, so I want it.

There isn't a lot of food in this country you can't go out and eat on a whim. Give me 15 minutes, I'll give you a gyro stuffed inside a lobster served on a bed of basmati rice. So imagine the piquing my interest received when I learned of the "paw paw fruit," a delicious treat that supposedly cannot be sold commercially because it spoils too quickly. There are apparently groves of this crap all over the country, including near me. The rub? That the locations of these groves are zealously guarded by fat f*cks that don't want to share the goods. Join Papa on his quest for paw paw on the latest Papa's Basement.

  • 13 Reasons Why — Papa’s Basement 541
This is Clay, one of the two protagonists of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. He looks exactly like I did in high school. Except he's not wearing the shirt of some black metal or industrial act. And has white people hair. And isn't in a flannel with a pack of smokes hidden inside a Magic: the Gathering deck box. And doesn't have greasy sideburns because he's a Mediterranean ape who hit puberty at age three. The headphones. There ya go. Twinsies.

Much like 80% of the adult population, if Netflix has given me a show with which to escape the drudgery of my life via a binge-watch, I will hop on that faster that a cat on a laser pointer (hello, Narcos season three). So imagine my surprise when studio guest Travis Dorward told me about 13 Reasons Why, a Netflix show released in March (March!) that somehow got past me. And the plot he described had me riveted: A beautiful high school girl (sold right there), Hannah Baker, kills herself, leaving 13 sides of audio tape describing how 13 different people helped contribute to her decision.

If you didn't wet dream about killing yourself in high school and then getting to watch as everyone mourned you (and every girl you had a crush on confessed to the heavens how badly she wanted you), then I probably can't relate to you on a single level. The beauty of 13 Reasons Why is that it does exactly that: An entire school copes with how they screwed Hannah over, and Hannah watches from beyond, laughing maniacally (okay, that part is false). But it's a great show and, if you don't want to watch it after hearing this lovely podcast about it, then I'm going to kill myself. But not before recording 13 podcasts about how you drove me to it.

  • Top Comedy Podcast — Papa’s Basement 540
Why, is this a photo of Papa's Basement, the top comedy podcast? No! I just wanted to say "top comedy podcast" again!

We recorded this so long ago that I don't remember its actual content. So, instead, as an SEO experiment, I'm titling the episode "Top Comedy Podcast." So if someone looks for the "top comedy podcast," they might find "Top Comedy Podcast." And now you know that I have neither brains nor looks.

Looks like I might need to include a second paragraph to make Google think that "Top Comedy Podcast" is actually a "top comedy podcast." Hey, Google, does this count? Maybe it needs a bit more. Like this. There. That's a humdinger of a second paragraph.

  • Papa’s Basement’s Three Weeks Off — Papa’s Basement 539
Since you're probably thinking what I think anytime I see an actress, Sloan (Mia Sara) has been nude in the following films: Caroline At Midnight, Timecop, The Set Up, The Maddening, Black Day Blue Night, and Undertow. You're welcome.

I'll keep this short and sweet: Despite it being the 10th anniversary of the show (yay, me), a lot of bad breaks occurred that kept us off the air. I discuss everything that has happened with the show in these past few months with friend and consummate radio professional Othman Bouchareb (follow him on Twitter - @OthelloBT) and, hopefully, we make an entertaining episode of it. If you've listened to the show as of late and want to know what the hell has gone on, you won't want to miss this one. Enjoy.

We mention multiple previous episodes of the show extensively throughout this broadcast. You can hear the live show we did at Wet Space (the basement) here, the aftermath show where we attempted to play clips from that show in studio here. I have also managed to find the show that I attempted to do with Brian Bolte at Chris's apartment. It can be heard here.

  • RIP Jim Vance — Papa’s Basement 538
Jim Vance was a stud. A man equally at home behind a news desk as he was on top of your mom.

Over the weekend, Jim Vance, a DC-area legend, passed away. Vance was the anchor of the local NBC affiliate's nightly news for nearly 50 years, an unheard of run. I could go on about his accolades, his pedigree and what he meant to everyone in this city, but his former network did a better job of that than I ever could.

After 20 or so minutes of our usual harassment of each other to start the show, the Papa's Basement crew (Pete, Chris & Othman) talk Vance's passing, as well as my very botched attempt at a funny, irreverent sendoff for the man in the form of an account on my Facebook wall of a fictitious meeting between the two of us that very quickly spun out of control.
