At first.
Or second, third, fourth, and so on.
But then something clicked...

If you've ever tried to experiment with blood sugars (or wanted to) and run into challenges or difficulty, I also walk through my exact process for experimenting with chaotic blood sugars - safely.

Whether you've got ADHD like me or not, T1D is often too much to keep track of while living your life...
And when we overlook blood sugar variables, they tend to "remind" us that they are worth paying attention to.
Case and point - insulin on board and running errands (or doing chores) can often lead to a big drop for me.
In today's episode I breakdown my recent "ah-ha" moment with this while out on an 85 mile bike ride and 20 mile run (it was a LONG Ironman training day), with a lesson that you might find helps to simplify diabetes and demystify those frustrating "sneak attack" blood sugars.

While parenting my * almost * 3 year old (wow, time flies), I said something to her that "clicked" in my head as a golden nugget for type 1 diabetes management...
I realized that it's what I've been unknowingly been using for YEARS to guarantee my own success, and that of my private clients...
And so I thought I'd share this with you.
I found a way to guarantee progress while simplifying the motivation we need to keep pushing on in the face of adversity.
There's a few gems, a few jokes, and you're not going to want to miss this one.

I finished my second Ironman 70.3 and it was NOT pretty...
diabetes devices failed, blood sugars were a disaster, body was shutting down...
But I learned something pivotal about what we experience as diabetics that we were misled by our doctors that I think will be beneficial to consider for any T1D looking to raise their standards of control (and overcome challenges easier).

There's one "risk factor" that stands out above the rest, and the truth is...
We're ALL unaware of the full impact.
In today's episode, I break down 3 different examples of how this risk factor might be destroying your life (as it was MINE)...
And of course, as always - what you can do about it.

It's true - I've been having a hard time keeping up with blood sugars and Ironman training while trying to live a 'normal' life...
And I hit a pivotal moment last week that had me second-guessing my ENTIRE exercise strategy.
Ultimately, I ended up going LOW and facing some fears head on, but the lesson learned was incredibly valuable for my control with blood sugars AND quality of life moving forward.
You don't want to miss this one, and while the story is a little scary, I promise there's a happy ending and some golden nugget knowledge along the way for you.

There's more than one "hard truth" with type 1 diabetes, but in today's episode I share one of the few that you can actually change in your diabetes management to make it easier...
With my private clients, I like to start most of them off with "quick wins" before we jump into the personalized, more detailed stuff...
Today's episode covers one of those 'quick wins' that you can do without even talking to me or working with me...
And it's probably the simplest, most overlooked strategy in type 1 diabetes.
Listen in, USE IT, and change your life forever.
In all truth - it's actually the MAIN thing I used that took me from out of control and frustrated all the way to stable blood sugars and happiness.

Is diabetes a disability? Some say yes, some say no...
In today's episode I discuss an interesting debate I had with a client, my thoughts on disability passes for diabetics, and a shocking shift in mindset that may have changed the entire outcome of my life (as a result of my diabetes diagnosis).
Bonus: I also do actually talk about how to manipulate the 'system' to benefit your blood sugars, you're not going to want to miss this one!

On a private T1D coaching call with my highest level clients, we were discussing the 'secondary impacts' of using a smart insulin pump and other "new" methods for managing blood sugars...
And how they actually don't work as intended.
In fact, all these fancy new T1D devices that we use, might actually be making your blood sugars HARDER to manage.
I shared a few clips from the coaching call and dove a bit deeper in today's episode..
Guarantee this'll spark some ideas for ya (and hopefully help you avoid this frustrating experience discussed).

You've heard (or lived) the experiences - roller coaster blood sugars, scary hospital visits, mystery and frustration while feeling like there's nobody coming to help us with our blood sugars...
In today's episode, I had the chance to sit down with one of my current T1D clients, Kelli, as she shares her incredible journey from erratic numbers to confidence and understanding of her blood sugars.
It wasn't an easy road, but the lessons shared in today's podcast are some that can only be learned from experience (or by learning from the experience of others when you tune in).
I'm SO proud of Kelli and all she's battled through, and it's so exciting to see how she's implemented everything that she shares in today's breakdown episode.
