This message from Mark 10:13–31 explores two contrasting encounters with Jesus that reveal what it means to enter the kingdom of God. While children came to Jesus with nothing to offer but trust and dependence, the rich young ruler approached with an impressive record of morality and achievement.

This message from Mark 5:21–43 explored what happens to our faith when life becomes crowded. Through the intertwined stories of Jairus and a woman who had suffered for 12 years, we saw two desperate people push through obstacles, uncertainty, and distraction to reach Jesus.

The crowd surrounding Jesus became a powerful picture of the noise and busyness that can fill our own lives. While many people were physically close to Jesus, these two approached him with faith, reminding us that proximity to Christ is not the same as intentionally pursuing a relationship with him.

This message challenged us to consider what may be crowding Jesus out of our lives. In the middle of demanding schedules, competing priorities, and seasons of uncertainty, we were reminded to keep our attention fixed on him, trusting that he sees us, meets us in our need, and is at work even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

What does it mean to truly be at home? Not just in a physical place, but at rest in your own mind, at peace in your own soul?

That question drives one of the most striking stories in the Gospel of Mark, where Jesus crosses the sea specifically to find a man that everyone else had given up on. This man was living among tombs, cut off from community, bound by forces no human effort could break. And yet Jesus sought him out, freed him with a single command, and sent him home transformed. The lesson here is both simple and profound: no matter how deep the bondage, no matter how long the isolation has lasted, Jesus meets us exactly where we are. He is not repelled by our brokenness.

The story challenges us to honestly ask ourselves where we are finding our identity and worth, because until we answer that question, we cannot fully receive the freedom being offered to us. The man in the tombs had no name he could claim as his own until Jesus stepped in. The same invitation stands open for us today.
