Parking Lot

How long would you stay in a house that made strange noises throughout the night? How many times would you call your new friend from the historical society to come check out weird ghost stuff in your house? These are some of the questions to ponder when you watch The Changeling. This week we wrap up Spooky Month on PKL with this classic 70's horror, plus we drop a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! Enjoy the show!

He's the king of horror, the prince of gore, the leader of spook: Brandon Espana. This week we sit down with this writer/director/producer to talk about his work, his taste in horror movies, and most importantly, his initiation into the infamous dodgeball group, The Bad Dudes. Check out his production company @retrovideopictures!

This week we sit down to talk about our favourite scary movies, what scared us when we were children and what scares us now. From Texas Chainsaw Massacre, to The Village, we cover it all. Maggie's sister got an Exorcist haircut growing up, and Kate didn't start going to boy-girl parties until middle school... Grab a blanket, lock your front door, and get cozy as we take you through the best of the horror movie genre.

Ever heard something in the night that you can't explain? Ever seen your boyfriend standing downstairs in the dark, when he was actually asleep upstairs? Ever heard an old Italian man standing next to your bed forcing you to get out?

Welcome to the second episode of Spooky Month on the PKL Pod. This week it's all about ghost stories! Don't believe in ghosts? Listen in, maybe we can change your mind...

She's talented, funny, wildly smart and driven: she's Megan Cassidy, the Toronto based architect and curator of modern hardwares. This week we talked with her about canoe trips, her favourite buildings in Toronto, how she got her start as an architect, and her business CASSON Hardware.

Listen in to hear about this architect's style and design process, and check out her website:

This week we battle it out over one of the greatest movies Marvel has to offer. For Elliot, this movie brings everything he's looking for in his entertainment. For Kate, it brings nothing.

Listen in as Elise tries to mediate a fight that could end a friendship.

Are you a fan of Marvel? This one's for you.

Hate Marvel and just don't get it? This one's also for you.

Well we've survived the hottest, most humid summer that has ever hit Toronto (please don't fact check us). And what have we been doing? Other than sweating?

Well Maggie’s been illustrating, Elliot’s been watching Marvel movies and getting into carpentry (just like Jesus), Elise has been critically watching movies and running around a set, and Kate has been listening to podcasts and reading booookks babbyyy.

Listen in, dear friends, as we wrap up the season with a list of the highs and lows of summer.

Have you heard this one: a guy walks into a bar, saves a blue man's life, only to turn his weapon on said blue man because, as it turns out, our guy is a bounty hunter and is just doing his job and he also wears a helmet that HE NEVER TAKES OFF. This week we take a deep dive into the Star Wars Universe with the show that has forever changed Elliot's life: The Mandalorian. We talk Baby Yoda, Jon Favreau, and Clint Eastwood. Think you're not into a man in a helmet? Listen in, we might change your mind...

Who doesn't love a giant gorilla and a petite blonde woman, bonded together for life when both their mothers are viciously murdered by the same lecherous poacher? This week we went back in time; way back to Kate's childhood and her fav movie Mighty Joe Young. Will this large animatronic gorilla capture the hearts of just Charlize Theron, Bill Paxton and Regina King? Or will it also capture your heart, dear listener?

Were you in Fiddler on the Roof? Have you ever felt true joy? Does logic play into the process of songwriting? We answered all these questions and more this week when we sat down with the incredible singer/songwriter Seth Feldman to talk about his music, writing process, and inspirations. While some of us spent the pandemic memorizing the complete catalogue of Netflix, Seth, who performs under the name To the Fields, created a remarkable album called Distance. Check out his music and enjoy the chat!
