Pat & Stu episodes

  • Pat and Stu 3/1/17 - Hour 1
-Donald Trump’s speech to the Joint Session of Congress (which the guys think should just be called the State of the Union) went over very well. Trump talked about being a representative of the American people versus being a representative of the world and emphasized how much he values the rights of sovereign nations. The people appear to be satisfied with Trump’s words, but Pat and Stu are digging deeper.
-How are Republicans reacting to the proposed stimulus, which will result in $2 Trillion in spending? House Speaker Paul Ryan, who was sitting directly behind Trump, applauded Trump’s proposal. This is the same man who ran against Barack Obama in 2012 on a Mitt Romney platform that decried spending increases such as this. Add in the fact that Trump possibly pitched an Obamacare-Lite policy, and you have wonder if the GOP will end up caving to this man who feels he could be way more popular being a moderate Democrat?
-Trump utilized a quote by Abraham Lincoln to justify his proposed tariff increases…the guys agree that things have changed a bit since Abe made that quote… Pat explains that tariffs were extremely harmful to the economy of the pre-Civil War United States and that the current president needs to rethink his justification of such policies today.
-Also, Pat denounces the insinuation that America’s infrastructure is crumbling. He cites the country’s airports, which he says are supposed to be functional, not beautiful.
-Will repealing Obamacare result in piles of dead people on every street corner? Has the Affordable Care Act saved 700 Trillion lives? The answer to both of those questions is no. Pat and Stu examine a report published by the Manhattan Institute that determined that the ACA has not saved lives due to the fact that the percentage of insured Americans has actually declined in many areas and the fact that states which accepted Medicaid increases have actually seen a worsening of age-adjusted mortality. Pat tells the story of how Glenn Beck’s company coverage was slashed in quality, and Stu tells the horror story of his insurance company’s clash with his dentist.
-Sarah Silverman has ticked off both mothers and fathers with her commentary on parenthood. She tweeted that she chose living a full life over motherhood, because it was practically impossible to live a full life with children to take care of. She also praised fathers who travel a lot because they get to come home randomly and just be cool dads. Yeah, the guys agree that she just doesn’t get it about parenthood. Just stick to comedy, Sarah.
-Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) has declared a state of emergency in his state due to a surge in heroin and opioid-related deaths. His state saw 1468 people die due to such overdoses between January and September of 2016, and this was not the first year with horrific numbers. The guys discuss their views on various drug crises over the course of their lifetimes and specifically examine the 1986 death of basketball star Len Bias due to a cocaine overdose.
-Which brands topped Consumer Report’s list of top auto manufacturers? Did Pat and Stu’s cars get the praise they deserved? What does Pat even drive?

  • Pat and Stu 3/1/17 - Hour 2
-Liberals claim that the number of men who utilize pro-transgender bathroom policies to commit perverted crimes is extremely small. Is this the case? Well, we have nine examples to prove that it is not. Some men perfectly fit the description of the kind of perverts that abuse these laws. Others simply show that we have not found an ideal solution to the problem.
-Stu asks, "If people are so accepting of transgender rights in regards to bathrooms, why do they still call the cops when they spot a man in the women's room?" He also adds that we segregate restrooms based on "...what junk you have, not what you want to look at..." Pat, though, admits that this issue's debate will be a tough one for conservatives to win, much like that of gay marriage.
-U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is a bird killing machine – no, seriously. The Minnesota Vikings new stadium features over 200,000 square feet of clear glass, and hundreds of birds could be hitting the glass every day and either being killed or injured. Numerous conservation groups have raised their concerns, including one Pat used to be president of... sort of...
-Glenn Beck joins the program with another edition of 'hiSTORY', in which he contrasts the ideals of two turn-of-the-century African-American civil rights activists, W.E.B. Du Bois and Booker T. Washington. Find out how their policies differed and what pushed Du Bois over the edge in his descent into radicalism. Also learn why Glenn places Washington among the ranks of Jesus and Gandhi while he places Du Bois among the ranks of Hitler and Stalin.
-A DNA test run on Subway’s oven roasted chicken has revealed that only between 42 and 53 percent of the substance contained chicken DNA. Thus, it is believed that the restaurant serves mostly soy in its chicken. Wendy's and McDonald's got decidedly better reviews, but all three restaurant chains defended their use of "100 percent real chicken." What part of the chicken that refers to is anyone's guess.
-An new interactive map shows that, of 137,000 American bridges, none lack structural deficiencies. They are all unsafe in some way. And they found all this out without the use of Jeffy...
-The guys sample new Oreo Chocolate Eggs in the latest edition of SPOONS! Stu gives a low rating, Pat gives a very good review, and Jeffy... well, he goes down a different path...

  • FULL: Mistakes and Meltdowns - 2/27/17
-Pat’s BYU Cougars just beat the #1 college basketball team in the nation! Yet, despite getting the big win on the road at Gonzaga, our favorite Provo grad says his team is probably still going to the NIT. Also, Cleveland Cavaliers’ star Kyrie Irving thinks the world is flat…yes, you read that right…

-President Trump announced that he will not attend the White House Correspondents dinner. He will be the first president to miss the event since Ronald Reagan, who missed it because he had been shot by a would-be-assassin. The guys praise Trump for not being vindictive in his decline, as he did not demean the event and wished everyone else a good time.

-On a related note, why has Reagan’s would-be assassin, John Hinckley Jr., received limited parole? He is now allowed outside of a mental hospital for a portion of every month. He shot the President of the United States… The guys make it clear that this is a man that should remain behind bars.

-The Conservative Movement IS Donald Trump! According to Politico, the new president has begun the process to “bend conservatism to his image.” In reporting on the president’s visit to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the news organization shed some light on the subject of Trump “re-defining what it means to be conservative.”

-The guys agree that it doesn’t matter whether Trump is completely right; changing your fundamental principles based on the ideals of one man within your ranks is just wrong.

-We have an outrageous comment to share. Well, outrageous if you’re a leftist. David Friedman, Trump’s choice for U.S. Envoy to Israel, has rejected the idea on the Jewish state commonly held by previous presidents (both Republican and Democratic). He says that Israel is not an occupier of Muslim territory against international law, and, going even further, the Jewish State has as much of a right if not more of a right to the West Bank than the Palestinians. Learn his rationale and see why the guys agree with him completely.

-Former WNBA star Candice Wiggins has made the claim that she was forced into retirement due to “too many lesbians” bullying her due to her heterosexuality throughout her career. She claimed that the league is 98 percent lesbian. Whether that figure is anywhere close to accurate is irrelevant; she will not get the empathy she seeks from the left.

-2017 will be remembered for the greatest Oscar presentation ever! Sort of. It would have been bad enough had the memorial for costume designer Janet Patterson (which erroneously featured an image of producer Jan Chapman) been the worst mistake of the night. If you've been living under a rock, the biggest award of the night, Best Picture, was awarded to the wrong film... The guys offer their decidedly unbiased opinions on the subject.

-Will we have a new Grand Nozzle of the Douche Hall of Fame?! The man put to the vote today is Chris Cuomo of CNN. His comments regarding young girls' aversion to seeing a man's penis has taken the transgender rights debate to a whole new level.

-Stu previews "The Flakies" and shows off some of the prizes up for grabs among the liberal snowflakes. Who will take home a bible? An honorary degree from Trump University? A luxury cruise with Ted Cruz? *Doubtful even Heidi would want that last one...

The guys eat "Peep" flavored Oreos in the latest edition of SPOONS! These don't get the best reviews, but Pat and Stu are really looking forward to trying more innovative flavors currently in development.

  • Pat and Stu 2/27/17 - Hour 1
-Pat’s BYU Cougars just beat the #1 college basketball team in the nation! Yet, despite getting the big win on the road at Gonzaga, our favorite Provo grad says his team is probably still going to the NIT.

-Staying on the hardwood, Stu admires Kentucky for finding a way to exploit the rules of college basketball in a completely legal way. Also, Cleveland Cavaliers’ star, Kyrie Irving, thinks the world is flat…yes, you read that right…

Hopefully, this will lead to the end of the event, which was started by the progressive Woodrow Wilson.

-On a related note, why has Reagan’s would-be assassin, John Hinckley Jr., received limited parole? He is now allowed outside of a mental hospital for a portion of every month. He shot the President of the United States… The guys make it clear that this is a man that should remain behind bars. He should receive more favorable conditions, but those who commit the ultimate act of war probably shouldn’t go free.

-Kellyanne Conway has been quoted as saying that CPAC should become TPAC (Pat finds it incredibly hard to believe that she came from the Cruz campaign). The guys agree that it doesn’t matter whether Trump is completely right; changing your fundamental principles based on the ideals of one man within your ranks is just wrong.

His rationale is the fact that the territory was seized in a defensive war from Jordan, which has since renounced its claims to the territory. The guys agree with him completely.

-Jeffy tells us that Facebook will allow its Facebook Live users to monetize their productions through advertising sales. The guys agree that this is a good move if the social media giant wants to compete with YouTube for the best online productions.

-Well, that's one way people are looking at it... It would have been bad enough had the memorial for costume designer Janet Patterson (which erroneously featured an image of producer Jan Chapman) been the worst mistake of the night. If you've been living under a rock, the biggest award of the night, Best Picture, was awarded to the wrong film...

-Was the presenter handed the wrong envelope? Should he have checked with a representative? Did he make the best of a horrible situation? The guys offer their decidedly unbiased opinions.

-The guys play a clip of Keanu Reeves training for shooting various guns throughout the making of John Wick 2. He's really into the task at hand, and Jeffy and Pat get to thinking about various war films featuring major battle scenes. In Jeffy's mind, 'Hacksaw Ridge' was not as good as 'Saving Private Ryan.'

-"Get Out" - the racist horror movie –scored a stunning 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was shot in less than a month for $4.5 Million and made over six times that amount on its opening weekend alone.

-Will we have a new Grand Nozzle of the Douche Hall of Fame?! The man put to the vote today is Chris Cuomo of CNN. His comments regarding young girls' aversion to seeing a man's penis has taken the transgender rights debate to a whole new level. Will he get the requisite 75 percent of the vote to reach the "top" of the heap? Tune in to find out!

-Stu previews "The Flakies" and shows off some of the prizes up for grabs among the liberal snowflakes. Who will take home a bible? An honorary degree from Trump University? A luxury cruise with Ted Cruz? *Doubtful even Heidi would want that last one...

-How does Pixar alter its movies for international audiences? The ways are more subtle than simply changing the dialogue.

-Average life expectancy could reach 90 in some parts of the world very soon. What exactly is contributing to such an increase?

-The guys play a sassy video of one of Trump’s press conferences… it...is...hilarious.

The guys eat "Peep" flavored Oreos in the latest edition of SPOONS! These don't get the best reviews, but Pat and Stu are really looking forward to trying more innovative flavors currently in development.

  • QUICK HIT: Pat 'rectifies'?
-There was no way we were making it through this show without Pat taking a few minutes to bask in the glory of his BYU Cougars' victory over #1 Gonzaga on Saturday night. Sadly, our favorite Provo grad also says his team is probably still going to the NIT.

-Stu admires Kentucky for finding a way to exploit the rules of college basketball (notably the "one-and-done" rule) in a completely legal way.

  • QUICK HIT: Another great decision?
President Trump announced that he will not attend the White House Press Correspondents dinner. He will be the first president to miss the event since Ronald Reagan, who missed it because he had been shot by a would-be-assassin. Pat and Stu examine his statement and applaud the president for not being vindictive in his declining to attend, as he did not demean the event and wished everyone else a good time. In fact, the guys hope that this will be the first step to the event going away altogether.

  • QUICK HIT: Donald Trump = Conservative???
The conservative movement is Donald Trump! That was the focus of Politico's report on the president's visit to CPAC on Friday. The guys question many of the points in the article, asking:

-How has Trump been able to begin the process of "bending conservatism to his image"?

-How has he managed to "re-define what it means to be conservative"?

-Why did Kellyanne Conway say that 'CPAC' (Conservative Political Action Conference) should become 'TPAC' (Trump Political Action Conference)?

Perhaps the better question (according to Pat) is: how did she get here after starting on the Cruz campaign?

The guys agree that it doesn’t matter whether Trump is completely right; changing your fundamental principles based on the ideals of one man within your ranks is just wrong.
