A legal doctrine created out of thin air by the federal courts, and then forced on all 50 states - this is "legislating from the bench" at its worst. Yet, many who claim to support the constitution spread some pretty awful lies in support of it.

When the feds exceed the powers delegated to them in the Constitution - which they do almost constantly - what should be done about it? Resist. Refuse to comply. Nullify.

When it comes to nullification of federal power, California has decades of experience on multiple fronts. And no matter what issue is important to you, there’s plenty to learn and implement. In this part 1 - a 50 year history of efforts by the state to nullify the feds, cities to nullify the state - and individuals to nullify them all.

While most people are pretty familiar with July 4th, there were actually dozens of other “declarations” and resolutions in support of independence in the months leading up to that date. They came from towns, committees, militias, colonial assemblies and more.

“Power corrupts” has been a maxim for ages, but most people still seem to trust people with power as long as it’s used in a way they want it to be used. This is extremely short-sighted. The Founders warned us about this - whatever power you give someone today to do “good” will eventually be in the hands of someone who can use that power for the opposite.

Some bad news, followed by more bad news, unfortunately. A “2nd Amendment Sanctuary” bill in Texas has a pretty major loophole - and another effort has an even bigger one. This could certainly happen in other states too - if no one’s paying attention.

We've all heard the story about Thomas Jefferson going forward with the Louisiana Purchase even though he thought it was a violation of the Constitution. But there’s much more history to it, and that includes a proposed amendment, James Madison, Albert Gallatin, John Dickinson and even Thomas Paine.

When it’s “just for the terrorists,” you can be sure it’ll eventually be used against you. As leading founders like James Madison, John Adams, John Dickinson, and Samuel Adams warned us - the precedent of power is like a cancer - it grows and grows, and grows. That’s exactly what’s happening before our very eyes with the unconstitutional warrantless surveillance powers of Section 702.

Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, John Dickinson and other prominent founders recognized that the ground of liberty is gained by inches - and it takes dedication, fortitude and perseverance to build on each small step forward. Few organizations today - if any - have put this advice into practice and effect better than the Montana Shooting Sports Association.

What do taxes, fiat money, a refusal to cooperate and the Articles of Confederation have to do with nullification strategy today? Quite a bit, it turns out.
