  • 18. "Listen to your Gut!" with Michelle Berzack

No matter what illness or discomfort the body experiences there is always a solution. Most lifestyles and diets are appropriate if they bottom line is finding balance and that may look different for each person. Stress leads to disease!

Michelle Berzack is a long time holistic chef formerly trained in the Macrobiotic lifestyle brought to America from Japan by Michio Kushi. Along with being a chef Michelle is a biologist and expert vegetable gardener. For over 20 years Michelle has experienced and tried out many ways of healing, landing on the most effective method which is listening to what her body and mind do through conscious practices. Instead of following the guidelines of one method or one practice Michelle takes something from every country, diet, practitioner, and person she has come across. After seeking Tibetan doctors in India, exploring foods of Japan, Thailand and North Africa, living according to strict Macrobiotic guidelines, eating only raw foods, then vegan foods, vegetarianism, Paleo (vegetarian), Ayurvedic, even consulting specialized doctors in America, Michelle has come to the conclusion that working to achieve a state of equilibrium is what leads to healing the body and preventing disease.

  • 17. The Prescription We All Need!
    • Grief is the same as burnout in your brain
    • We need to normalize burnout and develop tools to help ourselves
    • Everyone is creative.

Dr. Lara Salyer, DO, IFMCP was shocked to discover herself struggling with burnout 15 years into her career as a rural family medicine physician. To alleviate this heartbreak of feeling trapped in a lackluster career, she started painting, drawing and running. This regular dose of neurochemical flow state resulted in improved wellbeing and decreased stress.

Fascinated by this, she began studying the effects of stress/cortisol on physiology, culminating in her decision to certify with the Institute for Functional Medicine. She resigned from her employed position and opened a holistic membership practice where she leverages technology to build cohesive wellness in her local community through innovative group medical visits, online health education, as well as traditional individual services.

She continued studying with the Flow Research Collective to learn how to coach flow acquisition and high flow leadership. She infuses this training into her keynotes and growing Catalyst™ Mentorship program where she helps colleagues design their own creative, efficient, and organized work/life masterpiece.

Dr. Lara speaks across the globe on her mission to teach 1 million health professionals how to tap into creative flow daily so they can reclaim autonomy, improve happiness, and eradicate burnout.

She authored her own memoir, Right Brain Rescue: One physician's journey from burnout to bliss reveals the creative muse in all of us, available on Amazon, and lives in Monroe, Wisconsin with her husband, their three children, a manic dog, and infinite piles of laundry.

  • 14. Hot Sexy Summer Series: How Our Hormones Get Dysregulated - Part 2

Join us in part 2 of our Sexy Summer Series where we talk about how our oh, so sexy hormones get dysregulated. We talk about things like toxicity, external as well as internal factors, and what having dysregulated hormones really means.

“There is an estimated 2000 additional new chemicals that are developed and put into commercial use every year. The TSCA, who's responsible for testing chemicals in United States, only tests about 20 chemicals at a time. And that testing takes a few years. So even if they find a problem, the companies using those chemicals get a five-year window to phase out the usage of that chemical.”

The three things we focus on in this episode are:

    • Transitions in your home
    • Transitions in your diet
    • Transitions in  your supplemental healthcare

This episode goes really deep into all things toxic, what alternatives we can make, and how to make those transitions, including detoxification. But the goal is the more you know, the more informed you are, the more you make change, the more you improve, the more you gain vibrancy and wellness.

We need to make sure that we are doing our job to take out the things that are easy, low hanging fruit to start with. See if we see some changes. And if you don't see changes, keep digging deeper. And that's really the theme of peeling back the onion. It's sort of like, take that first layer off and see how you feel. Take off that next layer and see how you feel. Take off the next layer, and the next layer, and the next layer. Keep going until you feel balanced.
