Authorities say one woman is dead after a house fire in Kensington Saturday morning.It happened on Gransback Street near Indiana Avenue, and firefighters were called to the scene around 7:15.The woman, 37, was taken to Temple Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 8:20.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
Back in August, a fire on East Russell Street in Kensington, just a short drive from Gransback, killed a 66-year-old woman and displaced 23 others. A 38-year-old man was later taken into custody and charged with arson in connection to that fire.
KYW Newsradio has learned that District Council 33 and the Transport Workers Union Local 234 are considering striking at the same time, to turn up the heat in their respective contract talks.
