• The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office has named Philadelphia lawyer Michael Untermeye as special prosecutor to handle crimes committed on SEPTA in the city.

• An ATV driver slammed into a car and died in North Philadelphia Thursday night.
• After nearly five decades as the voice of the Philadelphia Eagles, talking fans through some of the Birds’ greatest triumphs and agonies, Merrill Reese is headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
• It could be dangerous for anyone with breathing problems to be outside today, because of high ozone levels. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange air quality alert. That means young children, the elderly, and those with respiratory problems, like asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis should limit outdoor activities.

• The primary abortion pill in the United States will remain available for now after a unanimous Supreme Court decision preserved access to it.

• A former Philadelphia Flyer and partner of an addiction and mental health treatment center has opened a new facility in Center City.  

• City Council gave final approval to next year’s city budget Thursday and passed more than 100 bills and resolutions.

• Federal investigators found that gasoline spilled from an unsecured hatch on the top of the gasoline delivery tanker that overturned and ignited I-95 last year. 
• Federal, state and city law enforcement officials announced a major drug operation bust in the city’s Kensington-Fairhill neighborhood on Thursday, which they say took about five dozen guns and nearly 50,000 fatal doses of fentanyl off the street.
• Kevin Morgan, 35, was found guilty of third-degree murder Thursday in the 2023 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.

• Backpacks are no longer permitted on the boardwalk at night in Wildwood. Officials voted to enforce a backpack ban to try to curb the type of unruly behavior that took place during Memorial Day weekend.
• Police in Gloucester Township, Camden County say they're getting lots of reports of people and animals being shot with Orbeez, those marble-size gel beads.
• Four and a half years after being taken out of service for refurbishment, SEPTA’s vintage trolleys are returning to service this weekend. On Wednesday, SEPTA unveiled the first of the restored vintage trolleys to hit the streets.
• Last month alone, the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) had 900 cats and kittens go through its North Philadelphia facility. There are more than 200 cats and kittens up for adoption right now.

• Aramark cooks, servers, bartenders and concessions workers on Wednesday took their demands for better pay and benefits to the corporate office on the banks of the Schuylkill River in Center City, Philadelphia.
• A petition has been sent to Pennsylvania's attorney general asking her to investigate current and former University of the Arts senior administrators for possible wrongdoing leading to the collapse of the university.
• The Biden-Harris campaign has a new target for voter outreach. Philadelphia’s Democratic Party is holding an event today to make a pitch for voters over 50.

• A local organization is working to create a safe space for neurodivergent youth on Temple University’s main campus in North Philly. They’re achieving that goal through art.

• Rowdy crowds of teens have taken some of the shine out of summer down the Shore, with chaotic scenes in both Ocean City and Wildwood. Several elected and law enforcement officials joined an online hearing Wednesday to discuss the challenges. Details from KYW South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty.
• The prosecution has wrapped up its case in the murder trial of a Pottstown man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend during a custody exchange. KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports.
• Philadelphia authorities have arrested a man in Puerto Rico for a murder in North Philadelphia about a year and a half ago. The homicide fugitive task force took Amir Studevan into custody, after they say he fled to Puerto Rico following the shooting of Samuel Rosario on the night of Jan. 31 of last year. 
• A report by Philadelphia's City Controller finds the city is failing to properly track and demolish properties considered "imminently dangerous." KYW's Conner Barkon reports, the findings also say Philadelphia's Department of Licenses and Inspections is severely understaffed.
• Mayor Cherelle Parker wants to put an end to Philadelphia’s lingering reputation as unfriendly to business. She put the leaders of more than a dozen companies, unions and trade associations to work on improving the city’s commercial climate. KYW’s City Hall bureau chief Pat Loeb has more…

• Federal officials say eight men with possible connections to terrorism are in custody. They were arrested in recent days in Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. 
• Car meet-ups tend to ramp up over the warmer months in Philadelphia, creating nuisances for residents and law enforcement. Philadelphia police are not allowed to chase after these vehicles, so they’re using a different tactic: They’re towing them.
• Mayor Cherelle Parker joined charter and traditional public school leaders in calling on lawmakers in Harrisburg to adopt a House-passed plan to reform education spending.
• There’s no one answer to curbing gun violence in the city, but community groups and nonprofits are doing their part. A summer camp in upstate New York aims to show at-risk youth in Philly that there's more to life than violence.

• A 37-year-old Montgomery County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after he admitted in court to breaking into his estranged wife’s Wyndmoor home on April 10 and stabbing her to death. KYW Newsradio Suburban Bureau chief Jim Melwert reports.
