It can sometimes be hard to come up with a name for your new child, especially if you are finding it hard to decide between you and your spouse. We share how we came up with the individual names of each of our children and they often have religious meaning. We named Paddy because of family ties, but with Saoirse we came up with that name after hearing it and it really hit Rosie as the name for our 2nd child. Adam thought the name was Irish for Sarah, but it turns out it means freedom, which fits her personality really well now. With Daithi, we seem to disagree about who came up with the name, but we both loved the name as it means David in Irish, and we chose that along with Michael as his middle name, like the archangel in the Bible. Ezra was a name we got from an American leader who was deceased, but it really hit us because of how different it was, and then Elijah was also named after the Old Testament prophet, along with the name Brigham, which has religious meaning to us.

“We were kind of unsure if that was the baby’s name, so we were kind of like, I wonder if it’s Elijah Brigham, or Elijah James? I think again until your baby’s born, you don’t know, but it’s interesting because after the nurse asked what’s the baby’s name, I said to Adam, ‘Is it Elijah James, or Elijah Brigham? And when I wrote them down, Elijah James looked like the wrong name written, and as soon as I wrote down Elijah Brigham, that was definitely the name.” 12:05
