Japan's largest steelmaker - Nippon [NIP-on] Steel - announced this morning that it is planning to acquire U.S. Steel for 55 dollars per share, for a total of nearly 15-billion dollars. As part of the deal, U.S. Steel will retain its name and headquarters in Pittsburgh. The deal will also honor collective bargaining agreements with the United Steelworkers Union. Reacting to the news on the Big K Morning Show, State Representative Josh Kail said he could see this coming, and he described the deal as remarkable:
