Another outbreak of anti-Semitism last week in Squirrel Hill. NewsRadio KDKA's Shelby Cassesse has more:

Police are investigating vandalism late last week at Marvista Design and Build in the 2400 block of Beechwood Boulevard. A woman is seen on video hitting a window repeatedly with a hammer where a small sign was posted. It said "We stand with Israel". She took the sign and smashed the window of a company truck parked nearby. Michael Jacobs owns the business and tells the Big K Morning Show cameras caught the whole thing. 

Anyone with a tip or lead is asked to contact Pittsburgh Police.

West Jefferson middle school students were taken to the high school this morning following a bomb threat. In a statement, the school district says a note was found at Pleasant Hills Middle School about a bomb in the building. At last report, law enforcement was checking the school. Once the building is cleared, students and staff will return. 

Butler Health System lost more than 43 million dollars in the last fiscal year. Its merger partner, Excela Health, lost 36 million. Combined, what is now Independence Health System more than doubled last year’s losses. System leaders blame pandemic aftershocks, inflation, low reimbursements from Medicaid and Medicare and an aging population. The Tribune-Review reports Independence is cutting jobs, reducing its use of agency nurses, moving to more generic drugs and reevaluating supply chain contracts and vendors.

Sara Innamorato will be the next Allegheny County Chief Executive, winning the election by just over 8-thousand votes. NewsRadio KDKA's Andrew Limberg has more. The 37-year-old was projected the winner by the AP around 10 p.m., less than an hour later, she addressed a crowd of a couple hundred at Mr. Smalls in Millvale. . She says her administration will be transparent and promote equity. She didn't mention her opponent Joe Rockey by name but did thank him for a well-run race.

Polls show the race is tight. Washington and Jefferson Political Science professor Joe DiSarro thinks despite the Democrats'  edge in registered voters,  Republican Joe Rockey might just pull out a win over Sara Innamorato

As for the District Attorney's race....DiSarro thinks incumbent Steven Zappala' name recognition may be enough to pull him through to another term in office.

Porter limited Titans receiver DeAndre Hopkins to just four receptions. Pittsburgh is 5-3 with the Packers next on the schedule at home on the 12th.

International service at Pittsburgh International will expand next summer with a new route. Icelandair will start nonstop flights to Reykjavik on May 16th. It is seasonal service through October with four flights a week. Tourism to Iceland was surging before the pandemic shutdown and it is strong agian. Also, from Reykjavik, Icelandair can connect passengers to dozens of European destinations. Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald:

There was service to Reykjavik before but it ended in 2019 when Wow Air suspended flights. 

A 38-year-old man is dead and another is in critical condition following overnight gun violence in Homestead. A 911 call about the shooting came in a few minutes after 1 a.m. and police were sent to the 300 block of East 12th Avenue. First responders say Eric Stephens, of McKees Rocks, died at the scene and the second man was sent to a hospital in critical condition. Allegheny County Police are investigating.

Tension is growing between Pittsburgh’s mayor and the Allegheny County DA. NewsRadio KDKA's Shelby Cassesse has the story:

In an in studio interview with the big K morning show, Stephen Zappala suggested he could sue the city to take control of Pittsburgh police. He believes police don't have full range to enforce the laws, leading to increased issues downtown. 

Mayor Ed Gainey responded today - defending his approach to crime, and adding the DA has no authority to sue the city for control of the police department.

A convicted sex offender's bond was revoked by a judge Friday. Nigel Parms was arrested twice for breaking into and squatting in a home under renovation in McKeesport. Marty Griffin has been following the plight of property owner Corey Diethorn, who had been trying unsuccessfully to have Parms removed. A magisterial judge ruled Parms could remain in the apartment until a November bond hearing, but that ended in different courtroom Friday. Diethorn spoke with NewsRadio KDKA after Parms' bail was revoked. Parms is in jail this morning.
