Gavin discusses the design issues associated with protecting cities from criminal and terrorist attack and explains that security measures can be designed in such a way as to enhance the public realm whilst remaining 'fit for purpose'. He also discusses the 'duty of care' aspects of holding public festivals and the range of measures that can provide citizen safety.
