Play Comics

X-Men is a weird universe anyway. You can fit in just about environment in. You can have just about any kind of character you want. Basically you can do whatever you want and it’ll make sense. There’s a reason why “Because X-Men” is a valid explanation for just about anything.

Then Mojo World just flips everything on it’s head. And here we have a wonderful Game Ge- oh who am I kidding it’s Game Gear. Listen in as Zack Jenkins from Battle of the Atom joins the show and we try not to throw up.

A big thanks to everyone from The Chimera as well as Dan and Jake from DC Supersons for the promos today.

Music by Best Day, who might have had a Game Gear but certainly never had enough batteries for it. But then again, who did?

We’re creeping up to the big boys here, this time stopping by Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. And once again, we get a stripped down version on PlayStation that takes out tag team but at least this time gives you extra modes to make up for it. If that makes up for it is up to you.

Listen in as Justin Williams from SuperTangent joins the show to take a look at Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and we try not to cry about the lack of Sega awesomeness in our childhoods.

Music by Best Day, who hasn’t specifically confirmed this to me but probably most likely is also sad that Sega thought we wouldn’t want all the cool Saturn games we missed out on.

Pretty much everyone dreams of flying. And of not getting on the wrong side of gangsters and Nazis. But mostly of flying. So imagine how cool it would be if a jetpack just fell into your lap! Or rather the seat of your airplane. Oh who care, YOU’VE GOT A JET PACK!

Listen in as Derek Graziano from Rolling Misadventures comes by the show to take a look at The Rocketeer and a pair of games that really couldn’t have been much more different if they’d tried.

Music by Best Day, who doesn’t have to wear a cone of shame. Unless there’s something I don’t know about………

Alright, things are really starting to creep closer and closer to Marvel vs Capcom with a game that finally introduces the concept of Marvel characters fighting against people from a whole different universe. Plus a dose of Japan getting an amazing game that didn’t come out over here and there’s reason why and I’m not salty about that at all. Nope, not one bit.

Listen in as Chris Sims from The ISB comes to talk about X-Men vs Street Fighter and we geek out about X-Men and Street Fighter and fighting games in general.

Regular Music by Best Day, who’s just going to have to share the spotlight here a bit today and deal with it because……………

Additional Music from https://filmmusic.io

Comics in the 90s were special. Big muscles, pouches, weird body proportions that just don’t work with real world physics. Spy adventures that crossed international borders like it’s nothing. Oh yeah, can’t forget about boobs and butts.

Listen in as Chris Sims comes on the show to talk about Danger Girl. Which we swear is worth readying we promise. Just don’t bring it to school. And if you do anyway it’s not our fault.

Music by Best Day, who will be very happy to hear that my little Nyx is walking really well after the surgery to remove one of her back legs. She’s a pirate now. AAARRRRGH!

You’ve got a character going around in specialized armor defending the world. Flying around, blasting things, certainly this has got to be the coolest character known to man. But is it Ironman? Or is it X-O Manowar?

Joke’s on you, it’s both! Listen in as Kyle Federline from Real Dudes Podcast joins the show to take a look at maybe one of the weirdest crossovers that there ever was. From the video game side of things anyway.

In the second of our Play Comics Origins series things are taking a different turn. Not only do we have a game that follows a comic story arc, it actually follows the comic story arc. What a concept!

Listen in as Scott Niswander from NerdSync comes by to take a look at Marvel Super Heroes which takes inspiration from the Infinity Gauntlet story arc. Like for real, it actually follows the story. Kind of.

You know what’s crazy? That we somehow got to the PS1 without a home console Fantastic Four game. You’ve got one of the most iconic groups in the Marvel Universe, a group that pretty much defines what it means to be Marvel, and it takes this long to get a game made? It’s pretty bad if you ask me.

Come listen in as Alistair from Get Soft with Dr. Snuggles comes by the show to talk Fantastic Four and this game that clearly suffers from a thing known as “being an early 3D game.” But does that make it bad?

It’s finally time to check out the Capcom Fighters, and what better place to start than at the beginning of that run? The X-Men have been a vital part of this show from the start and there’s really no better place to get things rolling here than with a look at a game based on the Fatal Attractions story arc.

Well, based on might be a strong phrase. Listen in as Miles Stokes and Matt Hunter from Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men stop by to take a look at Children of the Atom and all of the history and lore behind it.

In another bonus episode that’s totally not just to manipulate the numbering so I can pull something off later (that’s a lie and we all know it but we’ll roll with it anyway) Kayleigh Osborne comes back to take a look at one of the world’s most well known and important comic characters. Theatrical films, cartoons from multiple decades, and running pretty much since the 1930s.

Yup, it’s Tintin. Take a listen as Kayleigh joins to talk about this comic franchise that somehow just hasn’t caught on in the US yet. We never do figure out why it hasn’t.
