Nick Hoffman was born in Brockway, Pennsylvania, in 1961. He graduated from high school in 1979 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Finance in 1983.

He spent thirty tears with the Courier-Express daily newspaper in DuBois, Pennsylvania, including thirteen years as Managing Editor. He later served nine years at Varischetti Holdings, LP in Brockway as Community Initiatives Coordinator.

A lifelong golf enthusiast, Hoffman draws on this passion in his writing. In 2023, he retired and relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, to care for his father.

The Book

The opening gambit on the front cover of the book really does summarise the overriding backdrop to the story of Nick and his late father’s close but in many respects distant relationship. You might feel what I have just said a contradiction in terms, yet when you read the book, you’ll see why I have said that. At times this father, son relationship incorporated around a game of golf is quite touching.
