Now that the holidays are in full swing, it's important to take an opportunity to reflect back on the year behind, see where you're standing, and make the most of this last month of 2023. I hope you've been keeping up with your rest as you've seen friends and family, and aren't overworking yourself too hard out there. Today's episode delves into where I feel like my wins of the year were, in hopes that in walking you through some of the thought processes behind identifying them, you'll be able to look at this year a bit more kind yourself. Give yourself credit, friend, you've made it this far, and that in itself is a massive accomplishment.

Ah, the Holidays are once again upon us, and once again, that crazy Uncle with the greatest worst takes of the century is getting ready to ruin another meal, but no longer! Today, Plumes walks you though how to avoid those awkward conversations before the even get started, and how to dodge out of them the second they start if you walk into them. Remember, you have every right to a great celebration with those that you care about; don't let one person and their horrible views ruin that!

Plumes is finally back from Anime Weekend Atlanta 2023, but how did it play out for the last year the con was being held in the Sheraton hotel? Were the chains of past years still weighing down this over 20 year old con from taking off, or was it able to liberate itself as it gets ready to take off for the Georgia World Congress Center? And just how hot was the tea that our host was able to catch within his teacup? All this, and more, on a thrilling new episode of PlumesCast!

A whole week has passed, and now, it's time to talk about the things you discovered about yourself while on this week of discovery. I want to let you know that I'm incredibly proud of you for whatever you did; discovering your mental health, being vulnerable enough to be honest with yourself, that's not an easy thing to do. So whether you did the full week's worth of journaling, or you only took a few moments on the last day to consider everything we talked about the week before, just know I'm amazingly proud of you. Today, we talk about what things to consider when doing your mental health checkups, and the steps I take to better my own, while giving you plenty of advice along the way.

Y'know, we live in such a busy time where everything is going crazy that the excuses, "I can't take any time for myself because of [THIS REASON]" or "[THIS PERSON] has it worse than me, I can't complain!" have become commonplace, but really, when was the last time you sat with yourself to look at your own mental health? Here's a challenge - I want you to sit and give yourself the peace to be vulnerable just for a bit. Tell yourself how you're really feeling. And then, in a week, let's look at how you can start recovering. I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon!

There's a great saying, that "if you're doing something you love, it isn't working," but have we ever considered doing something we love to eventually get better at the working side of our lives? Could running conventions, talking with cosplayers, and learning how to order adorable stickers to advertise your fandom site actually make you better at your job, or your future career even? I certainly think after years of being a PR-Colored Puyo, I came to be much better with people.

High school is a defining moment for a lot of us, while some of us are still defining what that moment could be right now. This week, I look back at some of the greatest memories the Class of 2013 could provide as I gear up for my 10 year reunion, while imparting some wisdom for those who're still going through those last few great years.
Also, for those keeping score at home - I had another staring encounter at ANOTHER gym with a completely different woman. Don't know what to do about that one :)

It's officially the start of Fall as of September 23rd here in the Northern Hemisphere - but while we're getting out of that Summer Time Sadness, some of us are entering Autumn Time Anguish just thinking about the holidays quickly approaching. How can you afford to go visit your family this year when savings are drying up left and right, and what about your kids presents as inflation soars?
Today's podcast isn't about the political side of this story - genuinely, that's a whole other topic that people much smarter than me can get into - but that doesn't mean we can't come together, pick ourselves up, and look at how to properly budget. It's going to be alright, my dudes. We'll make this the best year yet.

[This episode was recorded live in front of my Twitch audience on Thursday, September 14th.]
As I've made mention before, I used to write a lot of different things to help escape the world around me; the forefront of those being books, the first of which stemmed from a simple game, Animal Crossing.
In today's episode, I reflect on the emotions I felt back in the day while reading some of the pieces, from hollow despair to overwhelming hope, while talking about the importance of getting those emotions out into the world, rather than just bottling them in.
