James’ Wisdom
James Cridland, the editor of Podnews, shared on one of the Facebook groups for podcasters how he was glad he had trademarked the name Podnews after he had an issue with somebody using the same name for their podcast. He recommends podcasters to trademark their podcast in the U.S. We should all get our intellectual properties in order.

Sarah Rhea Werner is a talented writer, the creator and producer or two very successful podcasts, Write Now and Girl in Space, she is a speaker, and entrepreneur, and also a podcast coach like me. I wanted to bring her on the show because she is an example of how to do things right when it comes to marketing and growing a podcast. She has found incredible success with her two podcasts and I wanted to know her formula.
On this episode Sarah shares with us:
How she finds balance being a creator, entrepreneur, and podcaster,
The importance of defining what having success in our podcast means to us,
How podcasting is a communication and an experience tool, and how much we’re willing to put into that experience will determine the success of our podcast,
the professional and personal benefits of podcasting,
and her formula to grow her audience.

Did you watch the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards? or have you been living under a rock with Veronica and don’t know about iHeartRadio 😂? Either way we discussed the different awards and awards winners also and Veronica makes a petition to include categories for indi podcasters. Let’s see how that goes. Also, CNN is planning the release of their new podcasts. We can only imagine the interesting content and quality. Finally, if you are still lingering with the question whether Spotify is getting stronger than Apple Podcast, Chartable has a great article about it and we discuss it a little bit.

TIP OF THE WEEK
Many people don’t know about the page that Apple has put together about marketing, although it’s pretty general stuff it can be really helpful to read through, especially if you want Apple to FEATURE you. In the article there are many tips about raising your chances. Find the article at Podcaster.Apple.com.
In addition to that, when it comes to being featured, many people don’t know that you can reach out to Apple and ask them to feature you. But very recently Apple has changed the way to reach out to the editorial department and they have put together an Apple Podcasts Promotion Request form. The link to this form isn’t a public link. To get this form you’ll have to email Apple at: [email protected]

The New York Times (Podcast Groups Aren’t Just About Podcasts)
This article talks about the popularity and the need for Facebook Groups for podcasts
Facebook groups for podcasts like Crime Junkie and Shameless have tens of thousands of members
We all know that podcasting can be very lonely. We are recording in our studios with not much interaction with the outside world. Also, podcasts are consumed in isolation and there is not a comment section for interactions among listeners. This is why Facebook groups have gained popularity among podcasts listeners.
Have you created Facebook group for your podcast yet?

Underunderstood- On each episode the hosts find questions the internet can’t answer. It’s a part chat and a part documentary. Very good production. It’s hosted by four people, Billy, Regina, Adrian, and John. They are on the second season. But they’re first episode was on August of 2019.
