Episode 125: Year C
In today’s episode, we highlight several details that are relevant for apologetics in the readings for this upcoming Palm Sunday, Year C. Many of the details, which are found in the Gospel reading for the procession of palms—Luke 19:28-40, and the second reading, taken from Philippians 2:6-11, we’ve already covered in previous episodes. So, our discussion of these details will be brief. The two details that we will mainly focus on come from the Gospel reading, which is taken from Luke 22:14—23:56. The apologetical topics that these details relate to are the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and Peter’s Role as the First Pope.

Episode 124: Year C – 5th Sunday of Lent
In today’s episode, we focus on two details in the second reading and Gospel for this upcoming Fifth Sunday of Lent, Year C. The second reading is taken from Philippians 3:8-14, and the detail that has apologetical significance is Paul’s teaching that we receive righteousness that comes from Christ. For many Christians, this is proof that our justification is merely forensic/external and doesn’t involve interior righteousness. The Gospel reading, taken from John 8:1-11, involves the woman caught in adultery. The apologetical detail is Jesus’ ability to avoid the trap set by his enemies. The relevance this detail has is that it comes up in conversations concerning the famous Trilemma argument for Jesus’ divinity.

Episode 123: Year C – 4th Sunday of Lent
In today’s episode, we focus on three details that are relevant for doing apologetics. The first comes from the first reading, which is taken from Joshua 5:9a, 10-12. The relevant apologetic topic is the Eucharist, and more specifically the belief that the Eucharist is not merely a symbol. The other two details come from the second reading, which is taken from 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, and each has to do with the question of whether justification is merely forensic or a state of interior righteousness. One detail is presented as support for the interior righteousness view, and the other detail is presented against it.
