Opinion

The audio sounds great for being recorded in a restaurant, and you did a good job of explaining that right up front. The big intro is entertaining, and thankfully you come in with some energy and did a good job of introducing your hosts and getting to the guest. However, your introduction didn't make me excited about the guest. You more or less let him introduce himself which he did by giving you his life's story. As a listener, I trust you to bring on people who don't suck. Give me their credentials and explain why they are on the show and get to the first Oild and Gas related question.

You also might get more Google Juice if you Spell out HSE.

I'm worried by your choice of using a free media host as they typically don't last (see http://davidjackson.org/another-clueless-free-podcas-media-host-goes-business/ (http://davidjackson.org/another-clueless-free-podcas-media-host-goes-business/) )

The audio quality is good, and you do a good job of introducing the episode. I would add something that maybe we didn't know (most people expect Mexican Drug lords to be violent, have lots of money and drugs). You are OBVIOUSLY reading, but it is somewhat of a new show, but try to add some voice inflection. Listen to Mike Rowe and the Way I heard it Podcast. He is reading, but it still sounds like he's just relaying a story to you. I would purchase a domain name (see http://www.coolerwebsites.com (www.coolerwebsites.com)) and point it at your Messy Bun page so people don't have to remember https://www.messybun.com/show/832 (https://www.messybun.com/show/832) you might be able to find http://pickthemindshow.com (pickthemindshow.com) or http://pickthemind.com (pickthemind.com) etc. You could spend $10ish dollars on a domain and point it at the messy bun page.

For a third episode, it wasn't horrible. Keep recording, keep practicing and you'll get better.

Opinion

I thought you did a great job introducing your show and what it's about. I like the production and the audio quality. I liked the creative way you introduced your show by describing how you met, where you met, and you walked around the lot. It triggered theater of the mind. I was worried when you opened the floor to hear about his company, but he did a good job of making it brief and not doing a giant pitch. You get right into good content by asking him what the president of a company does.

The only thing (and this is not huge) is you are exporting your show at a very high bit rate (192 kbps stereo) most people feel anything about 128 kbps is overkill, and just makes the file larger, makes is slower to download, and takes up more room on your audience's devices. All in all if I was into trucking, I'd be listening.

The audio is about a 6 out of ten very boomy, and the speaker start his next sentence with UM every time he makes a point. He is pointing to something on the screen which does nothing for an audio podcast.

Website

Description

Aside from the fact that I have no idea what MMO is (and you might get some traction spelling it out) the audio sounded great, you opened with a story, showed you knew what you were talking about and it was delivered well (I believe you're reading this, but it doesn't sound like you're reading it). On your website (BONUS CONTENT I normally don't comment on the website) your links to iTunes in the PowerPress player don't work (when you click to subscribe) I know you have the buttons under the player, but you might want to add them to powerpress as well.

Opinion

I thought the intro music at the beginning was a bit quiet and went on a bit too long. Then when the voice overcame on the music was too loud (and took forever to fade out). The recap seemed to go on for a long time. I would prefer a quick one sentence "On episode 1 we talked about and how it __. Quick one-liners to peak my curiosity and get me to listen. This would also be a great time to remind people to subscribe to the show and never miss an episode. For me, its one thing to spout an opinion, but I can't decide if I agree with you or not unless you give me what the basis of your opinion is. I need (as do adults) "the why."

You mentioned three people who were coming on, but didn't really give me anything with pizazz to have me think, "I can't wait to hear this." Was there something they overcame? I know you said they helped define conservativism, but that isn't sexy.

The delivery wasn't read but wasn't high energy. You seemed a bit far from the microphone. This didn't produce bad audio. but you can improve it easily by getting closer to the microphone and getting a pop filter. Point the microphone at the corner of your mouth.

While your program is educational, if you can find something to bring in an element of entertainment, or emotions, it won't be so dry.

Lastly, as this was only episode three, you're doing better than anyone who hasn't even pressed record yet. You're doing a political show, so bring some extra skin as 50% of the population hates you without ever hearing a word.

This started off awful. You explain that you are winging it, you give us an update on how the sausage is being made (Facebook is not working) and then say hello to someone in the venue. Your volume was all over the place. It is probably not fair, but about 99% of the time when I hear a show start off in this direction it is an absolute waste of my time. You didn't let me know what the show is about, and you didn't let me know what the episode is about. It sounds like you needed to be a little more organized before pressing record.

This is a completely different thing. Today's show doesn't have an official podcast, and it doesn't have a name (so it's a little off target for the Podcast Rodeo show). Here is the note I got from the podcaster on Fiverr.

I currently don't have a website - but I planned on transcribing the podcast and adding the content to my wordpress blog

https://brainmatterstome.wordpress.com/ (https://brainmatterstome.wordpress.com/)

I am doing this to develop my personal brand. I wish to speak on things regarding self-improvement, self-realization, positive mindset, problems we face but too timid to talk about publicly (dealing with self-esteem, doubt, depression, lack of motivation, procrastination, rebuilding relationships, and finding one's own identity etc). I want to inspire and motivate people who the society has deemed delinquent or incompetent to be the version of their best-selves while working on their passions or career goals. Enforcing them to not worry about the societal standards and ways to navigate the pressing demands of our new age.

I needed advice on how to start off, how to plan the topics i want to speak on. What to call the podcast etc. I am open to assertive suggestions that I can incorporate. Interviews with experts won't be a problem.

Opinion

If you want to avoid buying the wrong equipment, making the common podcast mistakes, and you want to make a podcast that will connect with your audience, you should join the School of Podcasting. That's exactly what that site does, it helps you plan, launch, and grow your podcast.

Stay away from Soundcloud and instead use a trusted Podcast Media Host (I used them 10 years before becoming an employee) http://www.libsyn.com (Libsyn.com) (use the coupon code sopfree) and instead of using the http://Wordpress.com (Wordpress.com) site (which can be limiting) order Wordpress hosting from a company like http://www.coolerwebsites.com (Cooler Websites), or http://www.schoolofpodcasting.com/siteground (Site Ground)

In listening to your audio, for a first attempt, it wasn't bad. There is room for improvement (you should get closer to the microphone and got a pop filter (see http://bestpodcastinggear.com/kits/ (www.bestpodcastinergear.com/kits) ). I DO NOT recommend using Soundcloud as a host (they are a music site and do podcasting very, very poorly) and instead of using http://Wordpress.com (Wordpress.com) (which is limited) you could order Wordpress hosting from a web host like http://www.coolerwebsites.com (www.coolerwebsites.com) and be able to do whatever you want to your site (building your website is also covered at http://www.theschoolofpodcasting.com (the School of Podcasting))

Opinion

While you did a good job of trying to keep your guest's stories relevant to Oil and Gas (not "tell us about yourself) the guests seemed to keep giving stories of failures. There weren't any good stories. I might have cut some of this out or tried to steer your guest to something less boring. The introduction didn't make me excited about the guest, and I didn't know what he was bringing to the table. Tell your audience why you are bringing them on the show.

You brought up the one punch man, but didn't really have an opinion, or funny story. What was the point of bringing up the one punch man? You also started playing with the chat room, but this does nothing for people who listen later. Also, why not let me know what you planned on talking about on the show. You had it in the show notes, so why not announce that as you start the show so people can decide if they want to listen.
