What I Liked About This Episode

Once you got to the main part of your show, you did a good job of naturally talking and the audio was good. This was shocking based on the opening audio.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

The opening audio had all sorts of thumps and bumps which were uber distracting. The biggest thing (and maybe this is one of those mini episodes) there was no description of what the show was about, or what was coming up in the episode (well kind of for the episode). This sounded like I was your therapist. I tuned in for financial tips.

If this is the regular format of the mini-episodes I would move them to their own show. Nothing wrong with a therapy show, but not when people tune in for topic A and you provide topic B.

  • The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly)
    Description

Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast The podcast that takes karaoke exactly as seriously as it should be taken.

Every episode, hosts Adam Wainwright and Ed Cunard discuss an aspect of karaoke or music and play a short round of trivia on that topic, where one of the hosts challenges the other with five questions related to the topic, along with an Impossible Bonus question.

Then, they're joined by someone (karaoke hosts and singers, musicians, actors, comedians, authors) with a connection to that topic—and feature that guest singing karaoke when possible

    see www.sungpoorly.com

What I Liked About This Episode

I liked the description. This doesn't sound like every other podcast. I LOVED The bad singing (it's what I'm expecting) and it made me LOL for reals.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

The intro with the woman at the front was "meh" then you spend a lot of time explaining how to ask a question, and the one host tells a story of going to karaoke, but really needs to read Storyworthy by Matthew Dicks as there were no stakes, and no "I wonder what is going to happen next."

You had GOLD with that bad singing and made me sit through eight minutes of boring content. I know it's hard to come in and get right to the content, but everything you said before the singing was not as entertaining as the singing (so you don't have to delete it, but move it to the end where the super listeners are).

You could also put your names as the author to help have another way to be found (currently you have the author's name as the name of the show. FYI, you are also listed twice in Apple, both shows using Anchor. That's a bit messy.

What I Liked About This Episode

The audio was solid (nobody sounded like they were in a cave).

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

There were volume issues (the announcer was overpowered by the production music and sound effects. The interview volume was fairly lower than at the show's beginning, so I had to adjust my volume.

The opening was all about you. As a new listener, I don't care about you (it sounds harsh but it's true) especially when you have someone who was HOMELESS AT 16! Why are you burying the lead? If you asked someone, "what would you like to hear first my report on a band from the 90's or the story of a woman who was homeless at 16?" Also, my wife and I are going to top gun. If you want to include this stuff, put it at the end of the show where the super listeners are.

I was surprised by a few of your questions. Do you remember the day your mother abandoned you? She said yes, and then you moved on. I'm pretty sure the audience feels that is a typical response. I'm not sure it added much to the story.

Then (after revealing she was a victim) you follow up with, "Why did you pick the Navy over other armed services?" I just found that odd. This may be due to your experience in service, but for me, I was like, "What does that have to do with overcoming her hurdles?

Who is this show for? Your description (minus your name) sounds like every other podcast out there. What makes yours special.

  • PROHFILES | THE WRATH OF THE BUZZARD
    Description

Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast

What I Liked About This Episode

    The audio was polished.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

You promised a podcast about the behind-the-scenes of WMMS a popular Cleveland station, and instead gave me stories about Roller Coasters at a popular theme park in Northeast Ohio. I feel betrayed. This was the ultimate bait and switch, and it looks like you don't start talking about WMMS until episode 8. Boo. Also, your website is down. You should take profiles out of the podcast name and use it as the author. This wreaks of a bunch of radio peeps who don't understand podcasting. I'd love to help.

If you want to hear (read) great stories about WMMS see the book The Buzzard: Inside the Glory Days of WMMS and Cleveland Rock Radio--A Memoir by John Gorman (Author), Tom Feran (Author)

    I am truly disappointed.

Josh from Punching Sideways, I do not hold you accountable for this.

What I Liked About This Episode

The sounds design was amazing, and even better was the correct volume. So many podcasters fall in love with their sound design that you can't hear the vocals. This was one of the better Audio Dramas I've heard on this show.

I liked that the description let me know I was going to get an assortment of episodes, and the episode let me know what was on my plate.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

So you're saying there was blood? I'm not sure we needed all the details of the truck. For me, all audio dramas move a bit too slow for me, and the woman nagging as the intro didn't really grab me. However, about the time I would've tuned out you discovered blood, and more blood. I liked that you showed the nag has a heart of gold.

    Description

Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast Calmly narrated history for escape, relaxation, and sleep.

    Website: https://www.silkpodcasts.com/

What I Liked About This Episode

You let me know the purposes of the podcast and explained what to expect. Your delivery fits your goal.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

Asking questions will activate what is known as the Zeigarnik effect after Dr. Bluma Zeigarnink. It states that "people remember unfinished or interrupted tasks better than a completed task." This is why cliffhangers work so well in true crime. People want to know what happens next. In your case, my brain may be stimulated by wanting to know why Charles Goodyear went to jail, and I'll stay up until I hear the answer.

Your artwork had the right dimensions but the file size was larger than 500 KB so I compressed it for you.

    Description

"You can invest 10,000 hours and become an expert or learn from those who have already made that investment." - Jack

We talk all things Real Estate Investing! Investors, Wholesaling, Wholesale, Fix and Flip, Flipping Houses, Mindset, Syndication, Multifamily, Rental Property, Property Management, Short-Term Rental, Rentals, Tenants, Land, Construction, Commercial Real Estate, Sales, BRRR, Landlord, Property Management, and more.

What I Liked About This Episode

I loved that this was an actionable step told through a story. You induced "theater of the mind," and I got to learn a little about you (you're married and live in Minnesota, and your wife is awesome).

You also asked people to share the show and said your website.

    The audio was great.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

I was confused about how you told people to listen to more episodes at the beginning. If they are on your website, they are already there. If they are listening on an app, then point out they can subscribe and listen to the back episodes.

You still introduce the show as this may be someone's first time hearing the show so when you started, "Hey it's Jack and this is tip Tuesday" you might want to point out that "this is the Real Estate Investing with the REI Mastermind Network show and this tip Tuesday." Then you could point out that for more episodes go to the website or follow and subscribe.

The last paragraph of the description made no sense at all, and is just keywords... ick.

  • Ground Effect
    Description

Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast A podcast about the McLaren team and their journey into this new era or Formula 1.

    Website: https://www.groundeffectf1.com/

What I Liked About This Episode

The audio was good, and you did a good job of introducing yourself and getting to the content.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

Summarize the race a bit. Can you let us know if it was a good race or a bad race, so we can get an idea, and then go deeper into the details of the race and what you thought about the different aspects of the race.

I'm not sure "Ground Effect" is going to be obvious enough as a name. If someone searches for "Formula 1 racing or F1 racing" your show probably won't come up/

BONUS: Your artwork file size was over 500 kb so I shrank it and resized it for you.

  • Deconstructing Comics
    Description

Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast is a podcast about the craft of comics. Tim, Brandon, Kumar, and guest reviewers discuss a variety of comics (both recent work and classics) and present interviews with a variety of comics creators -- mainstream, indy, and even international! And in our occasional "Critiquing Comics" episodes, Tim and Mulele will even critique YOUR comic!

Whether you’ve got a comic going and you’re trying to promote it, or you haven’t even started yet and need some help getting rolling, we hope you’ll come here for inspiration and tips. And there’s plenty of interest for the casual comic book or graphic novel fan, as well!

    Website: https://deconstructingcomics.com/

What I Liked About This Episode

I liked that you introduced yourselves so I could identify the speakers, and you got right to the intro. You then introduced the comic that you would be reviewing.

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing

The intro music needs cut in half.

I LIKED that Ryan disclosed he knew the author, but I wasn't sure how relevant it was that Jack gets him confused with another author.

Ryan's audio needs work. He should get closer to the microphone. See your gear guide for suggestions.

I would introduce the comic, explain the general idea of it, and then get to if you liked it or not and why. Check out Siskel and Ebert. The magic of these two was that they rarely agreed on a movie which made for great tension.

I would be the testimonials to the bottom of your description.
