Election Day is upon us. With so much at stake in this election, John and Pat encourage Christians to vote values. They share about values like defending the Constitution, standing with Israel and defending the right to life. They also share that voters in four states will be voting regarding on how to define marriage, as well as reminding us that no matter who will be the next President of the United States; they will possibly have a chance to nominate Supreme Court Justices. John and Pat continued to encourage VFNRadio listeners not only to vote but to take at least two others with them. They continued to share regarding the election process including the Electoral College and how votes are cast for President and Vice President of the United States.

In this moment of wisdom, found in Proverbs 4:10-13 John shares how God provides us with wisdom on how to live a long and fruitful life. Listening to what God says which is so much more than just hearing because it involves listening with the intention and comprehension is the first step. The second step involves accepting with gladness what God tells us to do. God has his own GPS, God Positioning System. He knows exactly where we are, where we need to go and how to get us there. We just need to be willing to listen, accept and obey what God is telling us to do. God desires to guide us in the way of wisdom and lead us along straight paths so that we have a long fruitful life.

John, Pat, and Chris share about the importance of giving thanks to the Lord for all He has done. The Lord has been so good to many of us including those who live in the United States of America. They continue to share about reflecting on God's goodness and how thanking God for what he has done for us and through us and to us, is a great way to start our prayers because it will result with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude.

John and Pat discuss how we are just one day away from the election. They encourage us to get educated, to pray, and to look over voter guides so we can vote according to our values. They continue to discuss what Dr. Aveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and many other Christian leaders such as Bishop EW Jackson, and Dr. Tony Evans are all saying, it's time to vote God's values not parties. They continue to share how important it is as a believer and as a citizen in the Republic of the United States of America to play an active role in getting educated on the policies and on the candidates in terms of their values, to ensure they are the same as your values. The United States of America because it's a republic, a representative form of government, ensures that all citizens, Americans, have equal representation in government.

Word of knowledge: "We should vote and pray for those to be in authority, which will give us a society that will be most conducive to us being able to spread the Gospel."

John and Pat share regarding the need to be vulnerable, which is defined as weak, open, exposed, and unguarded when it comes to sharing the good news and sharing the gospel. They continued to discuss that one of the enemies of intimacy in any relationship is the lack of vulnerability. Even Jesus, when he first sent out his disciples, he sent them out like sheep among wolves and instructed them not to take sandals or bags. Why, so their dependency factor would not be on themselves but instead on God. So it is with us today. Even the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:22. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. If we are going to share the love of God with others we must be willing to step out into unchartered waters and be totally vulnerable where we can, so we don't lean or trust in ourselves but instead totally lean and be dependent on the Lord.

In the midst of great tragedy of Hurricane Sandy John shares how Vine Fellowship Network got together to provide food, information, and prayer for those affected by the storm. John continues on to say, how they were able to knock on doors and meet hurricane Sandy victims who had been without electricity going on six days. Many were receptive to the food, information and prayers. One family in particular gave their lives to the Lord. What great and encouraging news to hear, out of difficult circumstances.

In this moment of wisdom found in Proverbs 2:1-5 John shares how as Christians we play a role in our relationship with God. It has been said that our first step determines God's next step. In the first verse of Proverbs 2 we find the word "if". The word if, is defined as proving, assuming, supposing , granting, as long as, in other words it means conditional. In the first five verses in this chapter instructs us on several things for us to do to grow in the fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 2:1-5

My son, if you accept my words

and store up my commands within you,

turning your ear to wisdom

and applying your heart to understanding,

and if you call out for insight

and cry aloud for understanding,

and if you look for it as for silver

and search for it as for hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the LORD

and find the knowledge of God.

In this Re-thinking Church moment John, Pat, and Chris share about their experience of just being the church when they met in a small men's group. They share how they met weekly to encourage, pray, and share God's Word with each other. Their love for God and each other helped them in growing closer to God and walking out their relationship with God in their everyday lives. It's when the church focuses on being the church loving on each other and fulfilling the great commandment and the great commission is when we see growth in believer's lives. Growth that causes them to be rooted, built up and strengthened in their relationship with the Lord and each other.

John and Pat share encouragement for those who are experiencing the day of disaster, calamity and uncertainty. You may have been surprised by what is happening but God is not surprised. You may be facing storms and hurricanes and think that you can never come back from this. It's not over until God says it's over. You can make it through this trial. Cry out to God make him the Lord of your life. He is the only one that can put your life back together. Abide and pray for grace for your place.
