This episode is produced in partnership with the Farmers’ Union of Wales and focuses on agriculture in Eryri – a sector that lies at the heart of the Park’s history, culture, and landscape.

Agriculture has shaped Eryri over centuries, and in this episode we visit three farms to hear stories from the people who live and work on the land every day.

Rhys Owen, our Head of Conservation, Trees and Agriculture, visits Teleri and Ned at Hafod y Llyn Isaf to discuss their sustainable farming practices and their connection to this unique landscape.

Next, Gwynedd Watkin from the Farmers’ Union of Wales travels to Nant Gwynant, to Castell, to speak with Elgan Jones about the challenges of farming, the Countryside Code, and the benefits of working in the area.

Finally, we visit the family farm of Foel Ddu, where Gwilym, Ioan, and Elain share their experiences of farming as a family and continuing the tradition across generations.

As the Carneddau Landscape Partnership draws to a close, this episode reflects on the people, places and moments that have shaped the project over the years.

Community Engagement Officers Tara and Sophie look back on what they’ve enjoyed most about working across the Carneddau from building meaningful relationships with local communities and volunteers, to helping people reconnect with the landscape, its heritage and its wildlife. They share personal highlights, memorable moments from events and projects, and what it’s been like to be part of a partnership rooted so deeply in place.

A workshop was held in partnership with the Comisiynydd y Gymraeg and the National Library of Wales for our Wardens at Plas Tan y Bwlch to record and celebrate place names in Eryri.

Wherever we go in the world, place names reflect the character of communities and give meaning to the land and its features. They remind us of our place in the world – both geographically and culturally – and in Eryri, they are part of what makes the National Park so special.
