I responded to pretrib teacher and pastor Jesse Johnson and his claim in an article he wrote about Revelation 3:10 supporting a pretrib rapture.
“Because you have kept my admonition to endure steadfastly, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.” (Rev 3:10 NET)
This is the most common proof text that pretribs possess. But I believe it is one of the easiest to refute. In fact, in this episode I challenged Jesse Johnson to a debate on this verse in front of his church.
I talked about the Greek meaning behind the word “keep” (tēreō). I also responded to a number of lexical fallacies that Johnson committed, particularly his misunderstanding of Greek prepositions (e.g. ek).
I only made it halfway through his article and thus halfway through Revelation 3:10. Next week I will finish my critique of Johnson’s article by showing that his proof text is based on an assumption, not evidence for a pretribulational rapture.
