No less than a half-dozen GOP senators publicly criticized the Department of Justice for investigating Powell over testimony last year about the Fed headquarters’ renovation.

Voters are hardly to blame if the names don’t ring a bell. Though it’s wound on for more than a year now, the 2026 governor’s race remains unexpectedly wide open.
