On your mark, get set, ready….Go! This week we have another show stopping, gear grinding, metal stomping show for you. Joining Alan this week is BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. She and Alan talk about different car company brands that are not around anymore. How Hummer was gone but is now coming back in name only with an all electric model. The duo remember the time they were both down in Mexico test driving the Oldsmobile Bravada as the brand got discontinued. BJ shares her test driving the new Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo AWD SUV. She says it looks cool with its dark exterior and blacked out tires, and really scoots in turbo mode. She likes how it handles along with the get up and go power. Alan shifts gears and welcomes George Kennedy III – Co-Founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. George shares his experience in driving Jeeps PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), the Wrangler 4xe. He says its a great vehicle for people to be introduced to hybrid vehicles, especially with the prices going up at the pumps. They discuss how quiet an electric vehicle is – Alan thinks it will be a great selling point for hunters who want to go creeping around in the woods. Alan shares how his daughter says she will never buy another vehicle that isn’t a plug-in hybrid because she likes how you can drive around town with electric and never have to fill up on gas, unless of course you are going on a long trip. They discuss how hard it is for car companies to be able to accurately tell you what sort of range you can get with a hybrid vehicle because how one charges it and drives it plays a huge factor. Pulling up next is Ed Justice Jr. – President and CEO of Justice Brothers Inc. They discuss the website autohunter.com and how great it is that you can put your car up for auction there and have a great experience selling it. Alan is listing his own car on the site next week, his 2020 Caroll Shelby Signature Edition GT 500. Alan’s GT has just 37 miles on it and it’s serial number is 8. Ed and Alan go on to talk about former Formula 1 driver Carlos Reutermann passing away and how much of a great driver he was. They two go on to talk abut Ed being the MC at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and how this will be his 15th year of being the MC. Taking the final lap with Alan is Brian Moody – Executive Editor for Autrotrader.com. Brian thinks that a lot of people are going to be surprised about the get up and go power of electric vehicles when they drive them for the first time which will be a huge selling point. Brian shares about driving the new Volvo XC60 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid and how it gets 80mpg. They close the show as they discuss how hard it is to find vehicles to buy and to rent all across the country. But are positive that next year will be better.
