  • Episode 14 – Strategies Financial Advisors Can Use to Help Clients with Divorce – with Nancy Hetrick

Nancy Hetrick became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) to help couples and individuals benefit from the lessons she learned while going through her own complicated divorce. In this episode of Power Your Advice, She and Doug Heikkinen discuss strategies financial advisors can introduce to their clients who may be struggling in their marriage. They talk about how financial advisors can continue to act as fiduciary and remain a trusted resource to both spouses by introducing a CDFA to help unwind the complicated intricacies of their joint financial life. Nancy also introduces tools and resources she has developed for financial advisors who want to learn more about becoming a CDFA and building a practice around divorce planning.

    About Nancy Hetrick

Nancy founded Smarter Divorce Solutions in 2011 after going through her own less-than-optimal divorce. She has been a financial advisor and planner since 1999. She provides full-service financial planning and investment management with Better Money Decisions in addition to her role as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst at Smarter Divorce Solutions. In 2016, Nancy founded the Divorce Financial Planner Training Center to offer continuing education to CDFA® holders everywhere.

Nancy is a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics, (MAFF), a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), an Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA), an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS), a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC) and is trained in both mediation and Collaborative Divorce.  Nancy is on the board of directors with the Collaborative Professionals of Phoenix, an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Association of Professional Family Mediators, was the Finance Director for the National Association of Women Business Owners, 2014 and 2015, the 2015 NAWBO Business Owner of the Year, the 2014 Finalist in the BBB Business Ethics Awards, and was on the 2014 National Board of Advisors for the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
