The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: As much as $111.5 million of your money is being spent by local governments in Texas to lobby the Legislature – often for things contrary to your interests. The amount of taxpayer funded lobbying has doubled in the last decade and involves over 1000 lobbyists. The Senate has passed bills to limit this egregious practice but it’s in the House, including under BurrowCrat Speaker Dustin Burrows, that the good reform bills die.

Our Lone Star story of the day: At the State Board of Education meeting, Democrats show they are dead set against teaching our History and show their hypocrisy over so-called “experts.” Our friend Don Frazier and Schreiner University are now suspect because the school received a grant from a conservative think-tank. Dems have never had a problem with university “experts” fully funded by Leftwing grant money!
And also as you’d expect, advocates of Islam are upset that radical Islamic terror is tied to, well, Islam in the history curriculum! Plus, they want Islam portrayed, quite wrongly, as being influential in American and Texas History.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick says that the Texas House of Reps. could have a Democrat takeover this cycle. Dems have gained big in the past in certain cycles but Patrick doesn’t provide any evidence that Dems could pick up the seats needed to take the majority this time around. Would Burrows remain Speaker if they did? He was elected such by Democrats.
Record oil production in West Texas helps stabilize U.S. supply amid Iran war. Yes, and this is by Republican design and only exists because we have fought back the Democrats policies to hobble production and refining.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas congressman calls out yet another DC attempt at mass amnesty for illegal aliens; Houston trims its police cooperation with ICE due to Democrat pressure; El Paso County sues for information related to a big immigration detention facility the feds are building, and; Chip Roy wants Obama rule changed related to collecting immigration data in public schools – but why now and not years ago? Well he wasn’t in a GOP runoff for Texas attorney general back then.

Texas Tribune’s dishonest headline and reporting picked up by large amount of state’s media: Texas to pay $700 million in SNAP penalties to the feds. No, Texas isn’t to pay $700 million per year. Texas will only have to pay if it doesn’t reduce a specific error rate to under 6 percent by 2027.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas local property tax appraisal notices are out and roiling households across the state. Often appraised value increases are wrong but, Texans need to understand the other side of the property tax system to put blame for tax increases where such belongs: on local elected officials.

Once again, after being proven wrong time and again, the Left claims that work requirements for food welfare, SNAP or food stamps, will kill tens of thousands of people: Report: More than 2,500 Texans could die as result of new SNAP requirements.

Our Lone Star story of the day: TX23’s now disgraced Tony Gonzales has long been held up by the RINO establishment of what a congressman should be. But it turns out he has been a sexual creep and adulterer the entire time he’s been in Congress with new evidence showing he was up to it all during his first campaign.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Following up yesterday’s show, I speak with Lubbock County Commissioners Jordan Rackler and Jason Corley.
Do local elected officials get honest, correct information on budgeting in order to set a tax rate? Do they get the information that would let them know they could be fine with setting the property tax rate at the No New Revenue Rate or, are they numbers they are given skewed to support more spending, by those presenting the numbers, who have a stake in more local government spending?

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: While the headline plays to the bad and regular soap opera style of reporting, the story and the financial facts reported show that I, and others, have been right in our opinion all along: Lubbock County’s auditor, with support from Judge Curtis “Bowtie Bully” Parrish, has been misleading officials as well as has been pushing policy decisions she has no business chiming in upon. The question becomes: Is it form ignorance and incompetence or, is it to push the Parrish dream of substantially larger county government.
Make no mistake, this misdirection from the auditor effected GOP runoff races in both commissioner precinct one and four races.

Our Lone Star story of the day: A story about a judge in Harris County set me off. We have become such a weakling, pansy society that we will not be able to take out the directed energy of China and other competitors unless our populace decides to grow up and toughen up. Headline: Harris County judge’s harsh treatment of IT worker goes viral. What “harsh” treatment? This is nothing, nothing!

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas’ $1.3 Billion Fix to Cool Deadly Hot Prisons Goes to Trial – these lawsuits are ridiculous as Texas is spending huge money to address the problem. Pitman and other federal judges too often want the cache of controlling the states. And even at the most inflated number estimating deaths in Texas prisons due to, or exacerbated by, heat, is that number actually any greater than that of the non-prison population?
