Our Lone Star story of the day: The racism and discrimination institutionalized by Democrats into our government and culture must stop. Publicly-funded racism in Texas is still racism is a good piece by Steve Rowe at TPPF.
Also, this story gives a strong background on drawing political districts using race. The story includes the key information about the change in precedent in the 5th Circuit in “minority coalition” districts that I have told you has a big effect on Texas redistricting: Supremes to consider legality of race-based districts in possible boon to GOP redistricting effort.

Senator Cornyn joins in on the largely hollow chest thumping with his headline getter that the FBI will help with the AWOL Texas Democrats. The problem is not that we don’t know where they are, the problem is that we cannot arrest them and return them to the Capitol outside of Texas’ borders. I hate to admit it, but that fat Illinois Leftist governor is right.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Democrat legislators flee from Texas and go to New York, then Illinois to break the quorum needed to conduct business in the Texas House. Sadly, as an aside, they won’t stay out of Texas and will come back some day.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The problem with limiting immigration enforcement to just criminals, etc. is that it degrades, even destroys, the value of citizenship. Remember, the American Experiment is one of a republic of self-governing, sovereign citizens. Without high value citizenship, there can be no Constitutional Republic. Ammon Blair explains the problem brilliantly in this piece: At the border, the very concept of ‘citizenship’ is under siege.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: National and Texas Democrats have already overplayed their hand on Texas Congressional redistricting and the Lefty show has just raised its curtain. The truth is is opposite of this headline: Texas Republicans struggle to defend redistricting as hearings grow contentious. Almost all attendance was from the shock troops of the Leftist fringe of the Democrat Party. Those people, and many of the office holders, were so “nasty” to committee members that it has bolstered their desire to move aggressively with the redistricting effort.
A new proposed map has been released and it could give Texas Republicans five more seats (Dems five fewer) in the U.S. House – sources say the maps were easy to draw. What that really shows is that Republican leadership was too weak and gave away to many seats to Democrats in the last redistricting.

Being bothered by “tense” or “heated” discussions, and real rhetorical fights, of government officials when they are debating and voting on policy is ignoring that our government, as Americans, at every level is supposed to be adversarial. When they all “just get along,” it means policy is decided behind closed doors. We need more “heated debate,” real debate, at all levels of government.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The problem with the attempt to panic people over Texas’ mid-decade Congressional redistricting effort in the special called session: There really isn’t much big Democrat states can do to offset such as they’ve already done the super partisan job of drawing out Republican seats and, more importantly, they’ve lost population.

Abilene city Councilman Regan either doesn’t understand the basics of how the property tax system works or, he is willfully misleading the public when he puts the blame for tax increases upon increased appraised values. Does he not even know what is the No New Revenue Rate?
