Our Lone Star story of the day: The ACLU and other anti-religion groups have asked the Supreme Court to overturn the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and declare that Texas cannot post the Ten Commandments in school classrooms. Maybe we should accept their argument that exposure is equal to advocacy, indoctrination, and establishment. That way we could apply the same to all of their Marxist, secular, Leftist crap and force it all out of schools! Frankly, this whole of issue of separation of church and state is moronically misunderstood. There is no such separation in the Constitution, only the prohibition of government creating an Established Church – which had a very specific meaning when written not a generic anti-religious meaning.

Lubbock and Abilene city administrations are proposing a tax increase on the citizens for whom they work. Lubbock’s may be small (still almost a 2% increase) and Abilene’s big (just under the number that would trigger an election for approval*) but, both represent the idea that officials believe they cannot do with less money but the people who have to pay, taxpayers, can and should do with less – of their own money they have earned. *Abilene’s No New Revenue Rate is 0.7196. Texas counties say new law adding another weekend of early voting will strain their budgets – it’s much worse than a budget issue. We do not need more days of early voting but fewer, budget and personnel wise.

Federal Judge in Texas Takes Sledgehammer To National Firearms Act – well, sort of. Judge rules National Firearms Act can no longer apply to some weapons.

And this: Court rejects Texas AG effort to overturn state fair gun ban. This is easily fixed by Speaker Burrows and Lt. Gov. Patrick if they have the commitment they have claimed. Require concealed carry be allowed on ANY property owned by a government or quasi-government even if it is a private business or group operating on the property.
