Our Lone Star story of the day: A huge teacher scandal uncovered by the Harris County District Attorney: Dishonest “teachers” from around the state, well over 400, have paid big money to have a proxy take their official Texas teacher certification test. The ring is said to be led by a longtime Houston ISD basketball coach and involved two other district people as well as others outside of the district. It is alleged that the coach, at the top, netted over one million dollars in the long running scheme. Read all about it here:

Gromer Jeffers, Jr., of the Dallas Morning News, sure has it right: After spending the entire campaign acting as if he’s not part of the Lefty-Harris Democrat Party, Allred went all out to embrace Harris and his liberal Democrat roots in the big Harris Rally in Houston this weekend.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The Roberson capital punishment case shows why traditionalism and conservatism often lose: Even when evidence supports the conservative position, one-sided presentations based in emotionalism (the Donahue or Oprah style complete with much omission) seems to turn off the skeptical and rational switch in the heads of many.

Media stories and editorials all engage in serious sins of omission and tell us this case is a travesty of justice and yet, most all of this is built upon the lie that “shaken baby syndrome” was the entire case against Roberson. And, most of the argument comes from outsiders who are against capital punishment or have a problem with general procedural habit of Texas courts. Juror Compton’s 21-year-old memory is not evidence but the word-for-word trial transcript and evidence history is and this case was never all about the questionable “shaken baby syndrome.” You’ll easily pick that up when you read Judge Yeary’s concurring opinion here.
