The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas scores a huge, $1.4 billion, settlement victory with Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc) over data privacy but there is so much more that needs doing. Google is monitoring Gmail and it’s Googlegroups for political speech it doesn’t like and, the Chinese communists are mapping our infrastructure and gaining intel through apps the likes of which no one has ever seen. Texas has the tools to fight, and is doing so, but needs to do even more.

Landowners decry Muleshoe Niational Wildlife Refuge ‘land grab’ despite manager of federal agency’s assurances. I explain how this is neither a big immediate threat as it is voluntary, nor is it benign because it is part of the anti-private land ownership movement.
Biden and Democrats suddenly don’t like how the Supreme Court works after almost of a century of getting their way ends. Biden talked Supreme Court “reform” in Austin yesterday and his supporter Jonathan Turley takes him to task for it.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Darn it! The anti-school choice crowd is getting frustrated in Texas. They can’t even design a big poll that skews results to opposing school choice! In the latest attempt pollsters found that even when respondents agree with anti-school choice arguments those same folks still favor school choice. Read it yourself here.
By the way, the poll and the Tribune story are an example of blatant propaganda that is common today. Both use the term “voucher” because that word is used by opponents of school choice and has been well demonized. Texas’ proposed program is not a voucher program but one using educational savings accounts. Vouchers are actual things.

The Art Mob: The political squabbling in Lubbock over funding for the First Friday Art Trail misses most of the key elements that should be addressed for good public policy. I explain several.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The media’s attempt to cover up who Kamala Harris is, is blatant and going at full pace. The problem they have? She is so much of a say anything Leftist that there is too much out there to successfully hide.
Always stressing “democracy” Democrat Party chooses to select it’s presidential nominee by “virtual” process – fits a pattern doesn’t it?

Our Lone Star story of the day: Biden blatantly lied to the American people about border crossing numbers in his free prime time campaign address from the Oval Office. And, El Paso County’s commissioners want money to jail illegal aliens arrested under Operation Lone Star – because it’s interfering with their money haul deal housing federal detainees..

Abilene officials appear to be pushing a tax increase while pretending that not building pickelball courts and demolishing two recreation centers is serious cutting back of expenses.
Another look by Lubbock County Commissioners at regulating so-called game rooms. Judge Bowtie-Parrish said we’d have the ordinance at this time a year ago but then let it slide into the do-nothing pile as he originally wanted.
Showing just how extremely Leftwing is Kamala Harris, the Statesman reports on three Texas names talked about as a running mate – all three are radical Left.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Did you know that hapless V.P. Kamala Harris was NEVER the Biden Administration’s “border czar?” She was but the gaslighting media is now saying she wasn’t. Why the change? That’s obvious. Read this great piece: Nolte: Desperate Media Seek to Erase Kamala Harris Failed ‘Border Czar’ Role. And the one visit she made to the border, El Paso, was a “sanitized” setup.

Lubbock’s city council, with it’s new leadership, made a right decision to drop the taxpayer funded subsidy of the longtime and well established First Friday Art Trail. Councilman Glasheen and Mayor McBrayer are right in objecting to the promotion of homosexuality through the event but there is an even bigger reason it should not be subsidized with taxpayer funds.

Our Lone Star story of the day: As predicted, Democrats fall in line with Willie Brown’s lover to be that broken political party’s nominee for President. What about all that “democracy” they change about? What about nominating a candidate who actually fixes the problem the party had with Biden? Putting in Harris lends credibility to the “palace coup” talk because it does little to nothing to make the ticket stronger against Trump.

With Lubbock-based Brandon & Clark, TPPF challenges EEOC rule violating Quorum Clause of U.S. Constitution. The suit revolves around the idea that Congress violated the Quorum Clause in allowing its members to vote by proxy, and not in person, on a spending bill which authorized the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act – one tenet of which is that employers must accommodate employees seeking an elective abortion.

Our Lone Star story of the day: With Joe Biden out of the the re-elect race, announced on X by the way, what will Texas delegates to the Democrat convention do? I speculate that there is so little authentic thought diversity (factions) in today’s party that there is little chance of any real showdown between factions – they’ll follow the far Leftist agenda whether or not it’s good for them electorally. For example, why would a Democrat delegate want to pick a nominee (Harris) with a worse record than Biden on the border chaos when that issue is top of polling as a concern? And yet, that’s exactly where Willie Brown’s ex-lover is – worse than Joe Biden.

After lying to the American public from top levels, the U.S. Secret Service now admits Trump campaign’s request for more security. The damnable fact that opens all this up to conspiracy ideas is this: “Trump was receiving a lesser level of protection afforded to former presidents and major party presidential candidates when 20-year-old gunman Matthew Thomas Crooks opened fire at the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign outdoor rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday.”
Austin insider and lobbyists’ friend, former RINO state Rep. Jim Pitts has died at 77. And longtime Houston Congresswoman, TX18, Sheila Jackson Lee has died. She’s lauded in the press but was an example of repeated ignorance and meanness.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The Texas Tribune has a big “social justice” story out on Lubbock and it’s full of half truths, utter ignorance, and even a lie or two. There are many things ignored by these people, the biggest of which is that people can choose to live anywhere they want and choose to build any type of house they want, and thousands upon thousands do so in Lubbock – of all races, creeds, and ethnicities. Also missed is how freeways run through South, Southwest, West, and Northwest Lubbock too so, why are those not racist constructs? Why are people in the newest areas wanting and waiting on a new freeway, an outer loop? So much of these ideas presented are solely constructs of victimhood that pretty much all this group advocates should be ignored.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas’ RINO’s, Democrats, and big businesses, especially TAB, often claim that conservative pro-family and decency legislation (those “social” issues) will hurt business in the Lone Star State. However, the last decade has shown the opposite and now two of the world’s most renown firms are moving to Texas because of a lack of pro-decency governance. Elon Musk is moving the corporate HQ of the world’s preeminent space launch company, SpaceX, and the world’s most used messaging service, X.com or Twitter, to Texas. Robert Zimmerman of behindtheblack.com comments on the move in his inimitable style.

Dallas’ mayor Eric Johnson told the Republican National Convention that the catalyst for his move to the GOP was because Democrats were silent when BLM setup outside of his home to intimidate his children and wife. “Today’s woke Democratic Party is with the criminals, not with the victims. Democrats are good at using safe words, but terrible at building safe neighborhoods and safe cities,” Johnson said. https://youtu.be/OhJq2UvFlV8?si=Vg1gLQ_Bi6nquU84
