The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: At the current rate of construction, the Texas state border barrier, which is not even a wall in places, will take 30 years to complete and billions of dollars. Is it worth it given the restrictions on where the state barriers are placed and how effective it can be?
Also, more on the Democrat judge in El Paso ruling that the Attorney General cannot investigate an El Paso charity that has been accused of aiding illegal immigration.

Another story on the Texas [un]Ethics Commission is out as a hit piece on Ken Paxton as you might expect. It’s really much ado about nothing in one sense and in another its a hint at why the state has rarely, for decades, gone after people to force payment of fines levied by the agency.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The not-so-conservative Texas Association of Business, TAB, which holds great lobbyist sway in the legislature, issued a report claiming Texas’ fight against the Leftist E.S.G. movement is costing local Texas taxpayers big money. Well even if it is, it is still worth the fight but not to TAB whose members are very large corporations which often support Leftwing social movements. But worse for TAB’s questionable reputation, is that the group has not amended it’s report even after learning it was based on incorrect data. Read all about it here: Estimated $700 Million Cost of Texas Anti-ESG Laws Based on Faulty Data, New Report Asserts. Also see: Texas Anti-ESG Laws are Working as Intended.

Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Patrick want more money for the new low interest loan program for building new dispatchable electric power generation. ERCOT growth projections have leaders properly spooked.

Texas sales tax collection is flat, with growth maybe lower than inflation.

Our Lone Star story of the day: I read and marked up the full 119 pages of the Presidential immunity, Trump v. United States, decision from the U.S. Supreme Court today. It is NOT what liberal Leftists, politicians and press, say. Nor is it a free pass to Donald Trump as some early conservative leaning outlets implied. The ruling is a Separation of Powers ruling and is mostly what all Americans considered to be the case for over 200 years.
Two other court decisions discussed as well:

Always extraordinarily arrogant, has defeated state Rep. Glenn Rogers gone completely loopy? He’s penned yet another screed essentially trashing voters.
Governor Abbott names Robert Black, an old Rick Perry hand, Chief of Staff – a good move.
Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp, the last of the old elected Democrats standing, to retire in June 2025.

Our Lone Star story of the day: The Travis County Attorney has dismissed all trespassing charges against pro-Hamas murderer, Jew hating protesters at UT-Austin. UT is not pleased and neither should we be. Also see: What Happened to UT’s Outside Agitators?

Texas Secretary of State election division sends an advisory that puts Texas back on track with properly numbered ballots. The problem was with ES&S systems; Hart systems are without the problem.
It appears Biden’s politicized DOJ and FBI are still going after Attorney General Ken Paxton. Anyone who thought the DC Leftists would stop trying to get to the nation’s most effective attorney general at fighting the Obama/Biden/DC Democrat machine is a fool.
Texas wins another Golden Shovel Award.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: A fine from the so-called Texas Ethics Commission of Harris County’s leftist Judge Lina Hidalgo demonstrates well how political and UNethical is the body that parades around with ethics in its name. All it takes is a comparison of Hidalgo’s fine, for doing something that is also a Class A misdemeanor in the state’s Penal Code, to that handed down to a local pastor who ran for office in Abilene. Unethical, capricious, and disgusting. The TEC should be done away with in the Sunset process next year and reformed with a proper name such as the Office of Campaign Finance Rules.

Other problems for Lina Hidalgo and friends in Harris Co: Lawsuit Alleges Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia Illegally Holding Two Public Offices.
U.S. Supreme Court puts a fundamental aspect of American Exceptionalism in jeopardy by dismissing Big Tech free speech case on standing. Alito makes it very clear that standing was easily identifiable.
Overspending is what hinders Texas public school district budgets, not funding which has grown massively.
Comment on Abilene’s budgeting and suggestion of a property tax increase. The city manager is using the TML taught scare tactic claiming that police cuts will have to be made without considering any of the other ample city bureaucracy.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas pro-baby killing abortion people, media included, have “mislead” on a Texas infant-mortality study. What’s even more perplexing is how those who favor elective killing of babies, abortion, have also been the folks decrying high infant-mortality rates. It’s crazy that a baby killed in the womb doesn’t count as infant-mortality.

Feeble Biden backs out leaving Texas State University without the Presidential debate it has spent big money to host. “Co-chairs of the commission [on Presidential Debates] say the Biden-Harris campaign will not agree to debate under the sponsorship of the commission this year.”
Texas named Best Business Climate in the nation, again. And while it is the best all is not coming up roses due to the Democrat/Biden mismanagement of economic policy and overspending. Dallas Fed: Growth in Texas service activity moderates; Texas retail sales continue falling.
Key business-related court actions: Federal Judge in Texas Skeptical of Biden Overtime Pay Rule and federal judge in Lubbock accuses labor department of doing “violent damage to the Constitution” in Davis-Bacon Act expansion by rule.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: There is much talk and action about the primary Texas electric grid, ERCOT, and our ability to adapt to accommodate massive growth in the state. But, on that very subject, the Houston Chronicle editorial board shows most all that is wrong with Democrats on issues of business and economics – the same error that has existed my entire life. I explain on the show.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The U.S. Supreme Court issued two bad rulings today. One is a rejection of Texas and New Mexico’s negotiated settlement of Rio Grande River water issues. The second is about the Second Amendment. It is a ruling most ignorant and shallow will think right but it is not – as Justice Thomas clearly pointed out in dissent.
