Our Lone Star story of the day: Excuses from the U.S. Secret Service chief, the big Leftist DEI proponent, for the agency’s deadly failure Saturday now reach a level of extreme absurdity.
If a very slightly sloped barn roof is too big of a “safety” issue for the Secret Service then we don’t need this particular agency because it will have become worthless from a practical sense. Maybe it’s just the DEI hires of U.S. Secret Service Chief Kimberly Cheatle that can’t stand on an easily walkable roof. See also: Secret Service Blasted: ‘Go After DEI, You End Up With DIE’

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton pushes forward investigating El Paso NGO Annunciation House his office accuses of directly aiding illegal immigration. Mainstream press stories decrying Paxton’s investigation have left out much of the story including: According to Annunciation House’s in-court admissions, its employees enter Mexico to retrieve aliens, including aliens who have been denied entry by Border Patrol, to bring them into the United States.”

Our Lone Star story of the day: I explain why my immediate personal re-action to the attempt to murder, to assassinate, President Trump was not one of shock or surprise – differing from even close friends. It has much to do with the Soviet-style bizzaro opposite world in which we’ve been living.
Roger Kimball said it almost the same way in a column as I would have in a written piece: Who’s the real threat to democracy? – The Spectator World.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Reuters, and much other press, is factually wrong carrying Biden’s propaganda that his administration is deporting more illegal aliens than did the Trump administration. Not only is it not close, the data also shows the Biden is specifically coddling, benefiting criminal aliens.

Kamala Harris’ Sorority Sisters Get Homosexual Men Evicted From Dallas Hotel. Despite how media descriptions try and tone it down, “Daddlyland” is an all out sex party and this Crowne Plaza Dallas Downtown hosts it often. Isabel and I made the mistake of entering that hotel once when such an event was wrapping up. It was grotesque to say the least.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Man was I right?! CenterPoint, and Entergy to a lesser extent, are becoming the public scapegoat for the unpleasantness following weak Hurricane Beryl. Interestingly, the Houston Police Dept. did not even think it needed to go on full mobilization until 24 hours after the hurricane hit and I agree with them, it wasn’t needed.
Clearly the move up and East for landfall made it very difficult to have private sector crews stationed in the right places. And, let’s think about the criticism that would have come from the same quarters if the storm had rapidly intensified and recovery crews and their had become casualties.

Biden Campaign Deathwatch: Frenzy behind the Scenes. Will he bow out this evening?
University of Houston’s Satan statue beheaded during the hurricane – officials and media blame pro-lifers – that’s a blame I’d be happy to carry all the way into the courthouse!
Despite rumors to the contrary and Ken Paxton saying it was so, it doesn’t look as if the Texas House Star Chamber is actually meeting next week to launch another impeachment attempt. This story does get the background of the shameful House Investigative Committee right.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: President Biden woke up long enough to do an “exclusive” interview with the leftwing Houston Chronicle in which he claimed he had tried hard but could not reach Governor Abbott or Lieutenant Governor Patrick about FEMA relief for Hurricane Beryl. It is a lie and also, we haven’t needed the FEMA supplies yet.
Also, a review of the media shows that CenterPoint is being branded, rightly or wrongly, the scapegoat for problems with the hurricane. There is much more than the story I provided but I have to laugh at the idea that their online outage map is such a big deal. Yes, it is nice to have but it has nothing to do with how quickly the firm works to get power back on. We didn’t even have such things a few years back and yet today, you’d think an outage map was the central issue to saving lives and property – it’s preposterous.

In this Pratt on Texas Podcast Extra, I interview marine biologist turned entrepreneur Bart Reid about his new book, out from Texas Tech University Press, about his successful, then not successful, efforts at commercially raising shrimp in the trans-Pecos desert of West Texas.
This is one of the most enjoyable and interesting interviews I have done in many years and I’m sure you’ll find it so as well.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Is Senator Hughes right, does Texas’ abortion law need “further clarity” in the next legislative session? No, and the data demonstrate that Hughes is wrong. Like many he’s falling victim to politicized hospitals and pro-abortion doctors who want little more than to loosen Texas abortion laws that are now saving the lives of tens of thousands of innocent human beings and effectively protecting the health of pregnant women. It’s Senator Hughes who needs “further clarity.”
