Dr. C. Michael Gibson, is an interventional cardiologist, researcher & educator. He is the CEO of the non-profit Baim and PERFUSE research institutes at Harvard Medical School which have led over 1,000 studies and published 3,000 manuscripts in peer review literature. For many years standing, Dr. Gibson was ranked as one of the world's most highly cited authors in all of science in the past decade by Thomson Reuters. Dr. Gibson invented measures of coronary blood flow that are widely used today, known as the TIMI myocardial perfusion grade. Dr. Gibson founded WikiDoc.org and WikiPatient.org , which are widely viewed open source textbooks of medicine.
Dr. Gibson did his internship, residency and chief residency at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and his cardiology fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center both at Harvard Medical School.
Even though Dr. Gibson's resume is one that seemingly could not be completed in even two lifetimes, he adds to that a title of an accomplished painter. He was largely influenced by his mother, who was an artist. He has been self taught most of his life, but did attend art school while in Boston. Dr. Gibson had a one man show at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center where 22 works displayed and he was selected as one of 50 artists in a juried exhibit for the inaugural Monterey Film Festival to name just a few from his long list of accolades.
