Dr. Chathan Sarabu is a clinical assistant professor in pediatrics at Stanford School of Medicine. In addition to being a practicing pediatrician, Chathan is also a director of clinical informatics at a healthcare start up called ShareCare. Chathan studied landscape architecture in college and incorporates those skills into his medical career. Join us as Chathan describes the landscape of his own career and the path that got him there.

Dr. Benjamin Schwartz has had an interesting professional journey.  After graduating from med school, Dr. Schwartz realized that his true passion was in the arts and decided to pursue a career in drawing and cartooning. This pivot paid off as he is now a full time cartoonist for the New Yorker. In addition to being a cartoonist, Benjamin is a lecturer at Columbia University’s narrative medicine program, as well as the social media content producer for the medical school’s Department of Surgery. Join us as we reflect on Benjamin’s nontraditional course and how he blends his two worlds together. 

Dr. C. Michael Gibson, is an interventional cardiologist, researcher & educator. He is the CEO of the non-profit Baim and PERFUSE research institutes at Harvard Medical School which have led over 1,000 studies and published 3,000 manuscripts in peer review literature. For many years standing, Dr. Gibson was ranked as one of the world's most highly cited authors in all of science in the past decade by Thomson Reuters. Dr. Gibson invented measures of coronary blood flow that are widely used today, known as the TIMI myocardial perfusion grade.  Dr. Gibson founded WikiDoc.org and WikiPatient.org , which are widely viewed open source textbooks of medicine. 

Dr. Gibson did his internship, residency and chief residency at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and his cardiology fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center both at Harvard Medical School.

Even though Dr. Gibson's resume is one that seemingly could not be completed in even two lifetimes,  he adds to that a title of an accomplished painter. He was largely influenced by his mother, who was an artist. He has been self taught most of his life, but did attend art school while in Boston. Dr. Gibson had a one man show at University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center where 22 works displayed and he was selected as one of 50 artists in a juried exhibit for the inaugural Monterey Film Festival to name just a few from his long list of accolades. Dr. Gibson's work will also grace the cover of the next edition of Braunwald's Heart Disease. Join us as we explore the pigments of Dr. Gibson's canvas. 

Dr. Carol Cassella is a practicing anesthesiologist. She is also a national bestselling author of three novels- Gemini, Healer and Oxygen each published by Simon and Schuster. Her work has been translated to multiple languages and has also appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Huffington Post. Join us as Carol tells us her process of melding the world of medicine and storytelling. 

Wole Olosunde was born and raised in Brooklyn to Nigerian immigrant parents. He graduated high school at the young age of 16 and obtained his bachelor’s  degree in nursing at the University of Buffalo. He now practices as an emergency department and trauma nurse. In addition to medicine, Wole has a deep passion for design and fashion. Given his devotion to both fields, it led him to create his fashion brand called Against Medical Advice (AMA)- again early in his career at the ripe age of 21. Join us as Wole tells us how his fascination with the human body contributes to his design style.

Drs. Poorvi and Abe are practicing physicians in Atlanta, Georgia. Poorvi practices internal medicine and Abe is a radiologist. Together they founded their company Herbs and Kettle, where they sell authentic indian tea. Their passion for tea stemmed from their visits to their home country of India. They developed relationships with tea farmers in different regions of India and select single batch, single origin teas. Join us as we learn Poorvi and Abe’s methods of turning the commodity of tea into a thriving business.

Dr. Steven McGaughney is a pediatric emergency medicine physician. He studied architecture at Darmouth College before going to medical school. He has always had a passion for design and incorporates that passion in his medical career though designing electronic medical records in the field of medical informatics. Join us as Steven tells us how he melds his two passions and looks for those creative possibilities in his everyday work. 

Dr. Rashmi Schramm is a family physician who has been in practice for 23 years. Stemming from her own struggle with health issues, Rashmi turned to meditation for relief. Given the power she saw with self care, Rashmi incorporated this into her medical practice. She eventually founded her company Optimal Wellness, in which she provides meditation and life coaching. Rashmi is certified in Ayurveda, meditation,  yoga, and integrative health and wellness. Join us as she discusses the importance of wellness and her journey of that discovery. 

Dr. Roshan Sethi is a radiation oncologist practicing in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to medicine, writing has always been a passion for Roshan. He turned that passion into a lucrative position initially as a medical consultant for TV shows then eventually into screenwriting. He co-created the Fox show “The Resident.”  His other writing credits include “Black Box” and “Code Black.” He also recently added director to his resume as he both co-wrote and directed the movie 7 Days, a film about a couple in quarantine during the COVID 19 lockdown. Join us and learn how Roshan blended his love of medicine into the entertainment world.
